The Pats get demolished on the road against an "inferior" divisional opponent.

Brady played terrible 12/25 78 yards he is under pressure all day and is sacked 4 times.

The entire next week this board was in an up roar: "this team sucks", "BB sucks he let Branch go", "our line is terrible", "matt light sucks" etc...

Then Zach Thomas comes out and admits they essentially cheated by acquiring game audio from CBS from previous Pats games and synched it up with the coaches tape. And he stated they knew what our blocking scheme was going to be for every play after Brady made his line calls.

Then the following week Brady comes out and goes 16/23 for 109 yards and 2 TD's. Mostly on short fields due to our defense causing 4 turnovers.

And the Pats go on to win their next 4 games, before blowing a lead in the AFC championship game.

This was a week two loss to a divisional opponent, who were most likely very familiar with our tendencies in our protection schemes thanks to O'Connell.

And before you blame the O-line, remember Brady sets the protection pre-snap. And Dilfer showed an example of how the Jets countered that. The Jets showed 4 rushers to the left of center, Brady sent 4 linemen to block in that direction. 3 of the rushers dropped back into coverage and 3 other rushers and a DL came from the right side. So Brady essentially sent 4 linemen to block 1 rusher. And left 1 Linemen, a TE and RB to block 4 rushers.

Brady has had his share of bad games before, this wasn't his first and it won't be his last. Take the game for what it is a week 2 loss. It isn't season defining, the defense is playing much better than many are giving them credit for, and they are doing it without their best player.

Relax this team will be fine.

Remember the 2003 team went down to DC and played terrible in week 4. And all they did was go onto win 21 in a row.

That game was probably the reason they had to play the Colts on the road in the AFCC, which contributed to that loss. I wouldn't just dismiss that loss; it was a divisional loss after Thanksgiving.

And the Dolphins didn't cheat.

That's a great comparison. Makes you think if BB and Brady are downplaying the effects of KOC's knowledge being spread to Jets coaches. It can't be a coincidence that in the two worst Brady games in the last 3 years, the opponent had - to some extent - our blitz protections figured out ahead of time.

Yup. Belichick said it himself during the spygate stuff: it's up to the team to protect & disguise its codes, signals, calls, plays, etc.

Not dismissing it. Just pointing out to those with amnesia that this team/Brady has played bad games within the division during winning seasons before. And not to take a week 2 loss and turn it into a season defining moment.

This team should be fine, I agree.

I do want to point out though that the Jets defensive scheme specializes in disguising their blitzes and causing confusion and misdirection, much like the scenario which you used (highlighted in bold). That is fairly common for them, and it's been very effective so far. We just fell into the trap. We can expect to see more of that November 22, so perhaps we'll learn how to handle it better.

Dismiss?

I saw no dismissing, just reframing NE's current situation and illustrating that one game does not define a season.

EDIT: A little late on draw, I was.

That loss may have decided their season.

I think what is alarming people is that it's two bad games, not just one. Further, Brady does not look good - with the exception of a fantastic last 5:00 minutes in the Buffalo game where Buffalo's defense relaxed a bit and went into coverage mode. I truly belive that this team will be just fine as soon as Brady is "fine." Honestly, I am pleased with the defense, overall, so far. I thought they would be poor as a unit.
