Not sure it has anything to do with liberals, but the commentary is familiar...

Have been in a lot of museums, how does anyone get access to things like ashes.. haven't they been interned?? It seems pretty horrible to leave the ashes of holocaust victims accessible to visitors???

    It is quite ghoulish...

Had he done the painting using donated ashes from his own relatives, donated to his project, that would be one thing. He's done the art with bodies he has robbed from the grave -- the only difference being that they had been cremated first.

So, bodies donated to a project are much more acceptable for those "I'm posing honest-to-God human cadaver" art.

Robbing graves or morgues to get the bodies poses some ethical dilemmas.

Crucifixes, on the other hand, are sold quite widely and cheaply, both in brick and mortar stores and on the interwebs. They also aren't made from real crucified human beings.

I don't think the cases are equivalent; stealing and desecrating human remains is still illegal, innit? Maybe the artist's point is that it shouldn't be. Fine, if he's willing to go to jail to make his point.
