Wouldn't surprise me if they delay free agency past tonight - just give everyone a chance to digest and plan

I'm sure, considering F.A. was delayed a week, every team was ready for this and had two seperate plans - CBA or no CBA.

Do you think we can have all threads on the first page announcing the agreement?

What do you think the Pats should do with the money......

1) Restructure and do a long term deal with Seymour.
2) Same with Branch
3) Re-Sign AV
4) Restructure Willie
5) Sign Neal
6) Try to do a long term deal with Koppen
7) Find and sign a wide receiver

As was said here a few hours ago:

In these final hours before 24 owners bend over to the agents' agent, Mr. Upshaw,
it is worth a moment to reflect on what could have happened

had they rejected the "final offer".

But, please, M. ... catalog me as just a humble owners-basher.

3) Sign Neal
4) Start working with Branch and Seymour
5) Restructure Willie if needed

I agree almost all of this, but wouldn't it be better to wait until after the draft to see how the money shakes out before they work on Deion and Sey?

Exactly. That's why I put it down on the list...it's not a necessity to get the deals done now, there most likely won't be holdouts, but I'd like to see something get done before the start of the season.

Makes sense, I still do not think DGIV stays, remember, Clevelad has 30MM now.

I'm just glad his name will fade back into the shadows, rarely to be heard from for a while.

i still find it hard to believe that theyll sign givens, even though i would love to
personally i thought they needed another solid wr to add even with branch and givens
so, without givens ud need to add two solid wrs, but we havent even talked with givens, i just feel they wanna go in another direction

1) Sign Givens For the 400th time - won't happen
2) Sign AV Also won't happen
3) Sign Neal Depends on what he perceives his worth is vs BB's assessment
4) Start working with Branch and Seymour Finally, a good suggestion
5) Restructure Willie if needed
Willie is either restructured or gone. It's really that simple.

Despite 400 posts here by folks like Miguel and Adam, oblivious posters here still do not understand that the Pats cap is about 2.5 million LESS than the NFL baseline because of charges for 2005 player incentives reached. Before offering above value contracts to Givens, Adam and every other player, the Pats are 2.5 million behind most teams. In fact some teams have several MILLIONS of dollars in EXTRA cap room. Here's a hint: those are the teams who'll be paying Adam V and Givens the big bucks. Again, it's that simple.
