At 5'7 and barely 200 lbs, this little guy was the most explosive all-purpose threat in the entire league last year. He was a threat to take it to that house at any point on the field with the ball in his hands. Reminded me of a Marshall Faulk, Red Grange, or pass catching Barry Sanders in more ways than none. If he can become and stay healthy, I wonder how much of an impact he can have on this offense both in the running and receiving game. I don't think he's lost it, impossible with that type of talent.

Bad thing for Danny is that it's really crowded in the backfield, and now with Faulk returning his touches will go down if Faulk stays healthy.

That said the guy is awesome. He gives it his all and makes things happen on determination alone.

except that faulk went out there one week and got hurt again......

Faulks periodic presence can only aid in making this offense even more inconsistent

Sunday's 1st play from scrimmage: Green-Ellis torches Giants with 18 yard run to take them out of the shadow of end zone. Then, instead of abusing NYG's 27th rated D against the run, they go with the Smurf Lineup rest of game. Granted, Green-Ellis did get stuffed a few times after that carry, but this was the game to be patient and run the ball down their throats.

hes lost snaps to Ridley/Faulk...so his running snaps have gone down.

He looks like he might not be 100% this year

Bill Obrien has forgotten about Woodhead and what he can do with this offense. I thought they had rediscovered Woodhead during that final drive against Dallas, when he had 2 catches for a big 22 yards. The next week Faulk got the touches and Woodhead was a memory. This week they start to back to him but an errant Brady pass to the flat (don't know if Woodhead ran the wrong route), but Woodhead hardly sees the ball again. Woodhead was hurt with an ankle injury late in the game too!

The only thing I can figure is that the rumored turf toe that BJGE has got worse at some point early on. Again, that's me giving BOB the benefit of the doubt. Famous last words, perhaps :bricks:

Seriously? That might be some of the craziest hyperbole I've ever read on this site. He's good, but come on.

It's even worse than when Kasmir said that BJGE is better than Adrian Peterson and Woodhead is better than Ray Rice.

There must be a clause in the new CBA for only NE RBs. 5 carries per back with at least a 15 minute rest before carry # 6.

I may be wrong, but Woodhead looks stouter, thicker, stronger, and maybe a little slower this year.

My impression could be wrong, but I thought they were running the ball much more than usual, until toward the end of the game.

As much as I would like them to keep running more, though, I will admit that the offense doesn't seem to be in synch when they run more. Not sure if that's playcalling, the line, Brady or just an anomaly, though. Or maybe I'm imagining it...

No I think you're right. BOB's run-calling hasn't been consistently good this year, especially with Woodhead. He should study tapes of how Baltimore uses Rice and NO uses Sproles - that's how Woodhead needs to be used.

Since Woodhead and Faulk have been back the use of the running game has gone to ****.

I thought Woodhead had a pretty good game on Sunday. 7 carries for 26 yards and 3 catches for 34 yards in limited time.

I'd like to see some consistency in the backfield. I think it'd be good to get one or two specific RBs confidence and rhythm. I miss the days when Dillon would get 20-25 carries a game. I think the Patriots offensive line and tight ends are very good and match up well against any defensive line in the league.

A consistent running game will open up the deep play action passing game, the 5-10 yard routes in between the numbers, and ease the pressure on Brady.

I really do not understand why the Patriots are not running more. Maybe some one could explain it to me (serious question, not rhetorical).

The Patriots played their best game of the year against the Jets. The use of the run versus pass was just right. There is no reason why the Patriots should not be playing like that on offense given the dynamic it brings to the offense.

Of course, that appears to be too simple an idea to invoke.

Yep. 25+ carries to ONE guy. (BJGE)

    I think this is important.

BJGE ripped off some nice runs in the first series against NYG, and then Ridley or Woodhead is out their for the entire 2nd series.
  20. didn't know they still drank torpedo juice....
