    This is the single most toxic issue facing democracy today. People will bloviate about Rathers bias or whatever but that has nothing to do with his over all point which is 100% correct. The very first thing I'd like to see is an overhaul of the FCC and a breakup of the oligopoly that owns all news media today. Sadly, that will never happen.

    I think our election process, in which it takes multi-millions to get elected, is the most toxic aspect of our system today. We need campaign finance reform yesterday.

    well it's all rooted in the same source; conglomeration and corporate power. I'd argue though that since the media is responsible for the majority of the flow in information to the American public, if the media was independant and able to expose and discuss issues like this, you'd see change in the electoral, environmental, foreign policy etc. attitudes and demands.
