Take this story for what it is worth, Dan Pompei of the National Football Post says that he is hearing that either OchoCinco or Haynesworth will be cut before the season starts to set an example to all the players:

NFP Sunday Blitz | National Football Post

It looks to be pure speculation and pure BS, but I figured I would pass it along. I don't think Haynesworth is a lock to make the team, but I doubt that Belichick will cut him just to send a message to the lockerroom.

Granted, we heard the same rumors in 2007 about Moss too.

Unless there is language in Ocho's restructured deal that delays payment of his $4.5M signing bonus until he makes the 53 it ain't gonna be the entertainer...

WTH? Lord I hate the media. Everyday I despise them more and more. That entire paragraph reeks of speculative BS. IMHO, of course.
"NFL executive familiar with the Patriots ways".....
All these outsiders think they know this organization. Give me a break. Sure one of those guys may not make the team. I'm sorry but I refuse to take the word of the infamous NFL EXECUTVE as gospel.

This sound like wishful thinking from an executive that doesn't want to face Haynesworth and VW.

And they couldn't even show a picture of OchoCinco in the uniform, but instead showed a picture of the guy who gave him the uniform number? Sloppy all around.

If we don't start hearing better practice reports about he and Brady starting to click a little bit I'll be worried. And he needs to stop complaining about the DB's in practice, too.

Hopefully this we get to see a good bit of he and Brady against TB.

This could be the manager of the gift shop for all we know.

While I don't have the best feeling about these two, I'd still be surprised by a move against either. This is pretty speculative stuff.

Well, you never know what other NFL executives' agendas are. I don't really think Belichick would trade for someone specifically with the intent of cutting a big name to "send a message." Would he cut one of these guys because other players are able to make better contributions? Absolutely.

Playing along with the premise, I think this will be a big week for Ochocinco. This caught my attention in Bedard's summary of yesterday's practice:

This after Bedard talked about offense having its best day of camp so far. I couldn't help thinking there was something familiar about the offense humming with minimal contribution from a "star" receiver, and bogging down a bit when that receiver got involved. Definitely just one day but, add in some of the earlier problems 85 had with drops, etc., plus BB saying what an important week this was for the team, plus the improvement of Price, and I think the situation's worth watching.

This is probably 100% accurate based on BB's long history of trading draft picks for players for the sole purpose of cutting them and sending a message to his locker room.

Wait wait wait wait.......Bill Belichick is going to waste a draft pick and money to set an example?

While I wasn't a fan of either move, I can understand BB's logic in making both moves. Chad Ochocinco looked good in the practice I attended, although recent reports suggest he's struggling a bit. We'll see if AH makes it back to the field soon. Everything I've read suggests that they're working hard and following the "Patriot way", albeit Ochocinco's room mate thing was a little weird. I could see one or both getting cut, although it seems more likely to do with how they're playing on the field.

    Something is happening here,
What it is ain't exactly clear...

Possibly Haynesworth, but really doubt it..

The "NFL Executive" source that jumps to my mind is:

Remember when the hot rumor in 07 was that Randy Moss would be cut before the season?

Reiss has compared Haynesworth's pre-season this year to Moss's in '07. I really think Albert stays (and if he has a DL equivalent of Moss '07 -- yee haw!)

First person report: On our way from New Hampshire to Connecticut yesterday, we stopped off at Gillette for the last hour of practice.

After the last horn, Brady and Ocho stayed late by themselves running a few short routes for about ten minutes. There is obviously a learning process going on with regard to learning the route-tree. Not an unexpected situation. I don't see it as a big deal at all.

Afterward, Ochocinco came over with the rest of the WR's to sign autographs at the ropes. He didn't seem like a man in turmoil at all. He was polite and seemed serene. My kids both got his autographed and were buzzed for the rest of the night.

Anyone expected 110 catches and 17 TD's is being unrealistic. This is a spread 'em out offense and he will be a great contributor with ~60 catches and 7 TD's.

BTW, after seeing practice yesterday with my own eyes, Gronk is going to EAT THE NFL AND SPIT OUT THE REMAINS this year. He is a monster. I've never seen someone so big absolutely dominate a practice with such ease.

Great report! Ochocinco is definitely a guy you root for. And Brady is obviously doing all he can to make it work. There's a lot of competition at WR, to be sure.

You are dead nuts on as usual - I mean why else would BB bring them in? I will even go further and say it won't even matter if they can contribute at a high level or not, BB will cut them to send that message!

Exactly what that message is, I really wish it could be explained by Dan P., as it wont be because they have lost a step or three! :D

Trading draft picks to get a marquee name so he can cut him weeks later? Someone is confusing BB with Childress.
