Dan Patrick on Brady

So he criticized ESPN for turning this subject into a media circus and all of a sudden he's a jerk? The fact you used his response to Plaxico's allegation that they would only score 17 points as a sign of arrogance is just unbelievable. Can't a guy just joke around? I mean, this whole post was just the overreaction of the year so far.

And please, let's stop pretending we care about Tom Brady's moral integrity. He's our QB, he wins us SuperBowls, he leads our team. That's all that matters. He wins, that's why other people hate him. Some people here hate Peyton Manning who, by all acounts, is a great guy. Why? Because he is successful while wearing a different uniform.

A great guy who teabags unsuspecting college trainers.

I'm not sure what Brady has done to earn him jerk status.

He had a kid out of wedlock? Is that it?

I sure am familiar with the "moonning incident" :D

But what I'm trying to say is no one can honestly tell me they dislike Peyton Manning for that. I mean, Joe Montana was hated, Bart Starr was hated, Dan Marino (who is said to be a jerk) was hated. But not because of their off the field behaviour.

I agree... look no further than my sig.

who cares? the people in the media always feel the need to defend one of their own

Well, Patrick's argument is an excellent one.

This is sports. We're under no real obligation to a moral or ethical truth. Most of us are fanatics. We side with the home team. Why? Because it's sports.

In answer to Patrick's question: if the shoe were on the other foot, we'd be blasting the Patriots too, without a care for context or logic.

That's exactly the problem here. People are making their points based on their hatred of the Patriots. Because they are fans. I understand that. It makes sense. They want to take the big dog down. If there were real world repercussions to this, then I'd say that it's wrong for other fans to do this. But there aren't. It only hurts the Patriots. And anything that hurts the Patriots helps the Colts, Jets, Bills, Phins, etc. That's how it is.

Patrick is actually arguing against himself. He's basically underlining the fact that fans are dismissing logical arguments and simply piling on like hyenas, which is exactly what Brady was saying about ESPN.

i understand that, but here fans of teams not even involved are whinning...

HMM! I get in a fight with someone, later that day he's shot with my gun, but I'm not inbolved or suspected. Might I be a COLT. And as far as Dan Patrick is concerned, if we use his logic, maybe the Giants were stealing our signals, by the way they constantly got to a QB who before then was hardly ever hurried is suspicious. ( this is their logic not mine)

It is the BEST BS I ever heard.

When the Dolphins did it two years ago or so, we shrugged it off. Someone forward that to the asphalt.

Replayed part of brady's interviewed and says if the giants were accused of cheating and if tom coughlin had a history of this then would pats fans and brady have let this go?

Is Dan Patrick really stupid enough to think if ANY coach other than Belichick had done this the media would have
covered this the same way?? Hilarious!!!
Dan Patrick - MAJOR mediot!!!
PS - if the Giants or any other team had done this (and some have) I wouldn't care one wit. The NFL is a war game and in war there are no concrete rules. That's part of the lure and lore of the sport.

Bottom line is Tom needs to shutty! No one wants to hear from him on Spygate and based on his WEEI interview yesterday he is getting pretty beat up today and I think deservedly so!

If the tables were reversed and this was Peyton Manning, QB of the Spygate Colts on some Indy Radio station, ALL of us of us would be questioning his Superbowl win, his stats and his overall legacy. Tom Brady is part of this mess like it or not and because of it, his legacy has been tarnished. The Pats and BB made him a superstar and with one decision back in September of 2007 by his coach, he single-handly destroyed the stellar reputation of one of the NFL's biggest stars.

Surely I know Tom is a great QB and logically he did get no benefit from Spygate, but the average fan - non Pat fan, choses to ignore facts. They call it Cheating and Tom is now labeled a Cheater - the lead Cheater along with his coach. That is now their great legacy. I heard people talking on The Fan today saying that they continued to cheat even last year (2007)and that is why Brady had the year he had. Basically, you cannot win on Spygate. Brady has got to know that and keep silent. Why stir the pot? There was a time Brady was better and smarter than that, but those days are gone. Could be his ego, or it could be his bitterness over the whole thing, but there was a time he was better than this and stooping this level. The only thing that cures this is silence, letting go and winning. Tom knows it and I am shocked by his comments on Spygate yesterday. I loved his comments on the team in general and overall loss in the SB and taking the blame and I also loved his praise of the Giants, but the comments about ESPN, the Jets and so forth were so unBrady like and stupid! Surely the Jets will use his no respect comments during our 2 games this season. Stupid Tom, just stupid!

I have to admit this to myself, although in denial for a while, I am now convinced that Tom is not the same guy he once was. Bound to happen with his stardom and the lifestyle he leads. I am sure his teammates and family see a difference in this once humble, quiet, hardworking, respectable guy. Just listening to him prior to the SB with the comments on Burress saying the Pats were only going to score 17pts, then skipping the workouts and now listening to him yesterday it seems he is jaded and has lost the shine so to speak. Sad reality, but it's who he is now. A rock star athlete with an arrogance and above it all persona. I can understand why alot, and I mean ALOT of people hate him. I would too if I was a fan of another team. He used to say the right things, do the right things, but suddenly he keeps opening up his mouth and this arrogant crap spouts out. Makes me a little sick!
Singularly, the dumbest post I have yet to see on this site. But, then again, I'm only a rookie...

It is the BEST BS I ever heard.

No, not BS. It's sports. It's all fake anyway. It's entertainment. part of the opera of it all. No different than the fact that the NBA likes to engineer playoff series by having refs make bogus calls. Same thing here.

If this really had any impact beyond the game, then I'd worry more about the ethical implications.

Anyone who looks to the NFL as the beacon of moral truth, and holds them to a moral standard, is living in fantasyland. It's entertainment, it's a sport.

That being said, this doesn't absolve Goodell or Tomase or the like. They have professional responsibilities which the average fan doesn't have. As a fan, I'm enjoying the fact that Clemens and Marvin Harrison are in hot water, but that doesn't mean I've done any real research or thoughtful reflection on the matter. I have better things to do with my time.

With the Patriots I have done a lot of reading, because I'm a fan. And I found that a lot of Belichick's logic in his own defense makes sense.
