I always liked Damien Woody. It's too bad he went for the money, but I guess you can't blame him when he got the most ever for an interior lineman.

Belichick is a genius!!!!! He knew back in 2003 that this would happen!!!!

it seems that every player leaves us in a way or in another way...

when Woody was with us i liked him a lot

ps = BB knows the future !!!

Maybe its just me, but how the f*ck are is a football player out for 3 months with a SPRAINED foot?

Alot of sprains are worse than breaks and tears.

Woody was a good player for the Pats, but the Lions made an unbelievable offer, I don't recall the exact figures, but eveybody knew it was too much, including BB

Rotoworld.com reports this:
"Contract Information for Damien Woody

Signed a six-year, $31 million contract on 3/5/2004.
Woody received $11.5 million in the first year, including a $9 million signing bonus.
The deal includes base salaries of, for 2006: $1,750,000, 2007: $4,500,000,
2008: $4,750,000, 2009: $5,750,000
."

Thanks - I guess it was up to BB on whether those figures were kosher, and he didn't think so - the cap hit on the first year of Woody's Detroit contract was significant

So the Lions will only take $4.5 million cap hit (the unamortized half of the signing bonus) when they cut him after this season. Or, they can a fat center with a bum foot who can't shotgun snap for a cap hit of only $6 million.

BB didn't have a hardon for Woody so the Pats didn't get stiffed. Otherwise, we'd of gotten screwed.

The problem for Woody is that, when you get cut by the Detroit Freakin' Lions, you are really yesterday's news. Not a big market for Lions rejects.

Maybe Belichick would bring him back for vet minimum and incentives if gets any playtime. He'd push Hochstein in training camp.

So he's probably back out on the market again for 2007.
