Caught a little bit of Curtis on NFL channel last night. He was being interviewed by Eisen and T. Davis. Curtis said that he was in the process of becoming an owner or part owner of an NFL football team. He'd hoped to announce it on the day of his retirement but they didn't get "things" done in time. Congrats Curtis! This well respected man can only improve the league IMO!

Doubt if he has the cash to be an "owner", maybe he has a financial interest in a team might be a better way to say it...

I don't blame Martin for leaving to the Jets. I blame Bobby Grier. Not only did he refuse to redo Martin's contract when he was only making about $300-$400k, but he also bragged how great he was for having Martin on the roster for so cheap. I think if Grier was more willing to give Martin an extension and didn't rub the fact that Martin was making next to nothing in his face, I think Martin might have played his entire career as a Patriot.

One of the ultimate class guys in my opinion.

Although the revisionist historians trace the beginning of football time to the year 2001, there was football before then and Parcells was one of the best coaches.

Should Martin have predicted that the incompetent organization (Bobby Grier) who considered him damaged goods and didn't want to pay him would be the place to be in three years, or should he have followed the coach he admired and respected and felt a great deal of loyalty to who was willing to pull out all the stops to get him?

The poison pill? That was up to the league.

If you're going to slam Parcells for doing what he legally could to get his man, don't whine out of the other side of your mouth about Belichick being persecuted for admittedly breaking the rules.

LOL. Maybe you forgot the poison pill, I want to play for Parcells in the bigtime, part of the contract.

Oh, he left the Pats so he was a traitor. On the other hand, when someone leaves another team to come to the Pats, they're just being smart. Pretend to have some objectivity, people.

No one disputes this. Like Clemens, he preferred NY to Boston. He preferred the Jets to the Patriots. And you wonder why people consider him the enemy. This is sports. This isn 't life or death. He bolted the Patriots for the Jets. Case closed. Bruschi could have done the same thing, but he didn't.

In the end, it doesn't matter. The joke is on Curtis, and his ringless fingers.

Didn't forget it at all. Just think if Grier didn't refuse to redo his contract with one year left and then brag about it to the press, it would never had happened like it did.

If he didn't want to become the traitor that he is he should have respected the fans of the team he was an instrumental part of and not conspired with the hated Jets and knowingly signed that poison pill contract offer.

The decision of validity of said contract was indeed up to the league but the league didn't force the "righteous" and "ethical" Martin to sign it.

So Martin gets a free ride because of a legal technicality? The fact that Martin gave us all the big F You finger as he left us for the hated Jets doesn't matter in my opinion of him because legally he was allowed to do so?

Legality issues aside, what BB did was for the benefit of this team. What Parcells, and by extension Martin, did was for the benefit of a hated rival and to the detriment of the tam that we cheer for. Of course, we're gonna side with the guy who does something for the benefit of this team and not the guy who chose to knowingly shaft us.

Grier offered Curtis a contract long before the Broncos offered Terrell Davis a contract. Both Curtis and Terrell came out of the same draft as lower round picks. If anything, Davis deserved to be redone sooner because he was a 6th rounder. But what happened? A year later, Terrell got his contract and stayed in Denver.

How silly. We all know football time began in 1996 when the Krafts created the franchise!

    Disable Jersey

    My metric...

Leave the Pats for money or whatever when you're still wanted: Traitor (e.g. Curtis, the Vinitraitor, He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named...)

Sign with the Jets or Colts for any reason: Dead To Me* (e.g. see previous 1st 2 losahs)

Leave the Pats 'cause they don't want you anymore: Good guy (e.g. Fauria)

Come to the Pats as a FA and play well: A 'Patriots' type player (e.g. The Wanker, AT)

Come to the Past as an FA and stink: Losah! (e.g. Beisel, Donald Hayes, Steve Martin...)

    Works for me!

    * This is why BB's rise from the dead assumes mythic proportions!
