Senate hopeful of the day: Curt Schilling - Local News Updates - The Boston Globe

Add another name to the growing list of pols and would-be pols eyeing a run for Edward M. Kennedy's Senate seat: former Red Sox ace Curt Schilling.

That's right, Mr. Bloody Sock himself told NECN's Brad Puffer in an interview today that he has been "contacted" about a possible Senate run and has not ruled it out.

"I'm not going to divulge the discussions, but I've been contacted by people whose opinion I give credence to and listen to, and I listened," Schilling said.

The first time I remember hearing Curt Schilling and political office together was just after the Steroid hearings in Congress. Still, its a joke IMO. One half of Red Sox nation thinks he talks too much already and he hasn't even started running for anything yet.

30 years old, US citizen for at least last nine years, and resident of the state they will represent....anything else is up to the voters to determine.

Bingo. "Unqualified" is just another way to say "not from my Party."

    i did laugh.

anyhow, it's sad watching a sports hero of mine go through this process. he's so dyed-in-the-wool religio-right wing, it's creepy. ...

seriously, he's such a hero in this region, why can't he win? scary.

imagine if Mass became a red state?

He would be an interesting candidate, not sure if he is primary fodder or if he has enough credibility to do it seriously... not sure of his educational background and if many of his views are reactionary or thought out..

Besides he is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, so he has to suck....

    .

Schill would make ten times the Senator that Kennedy ever was, Kerry too, for that matter.

If an absolute CLOWN like Al Franken (stein) can get elected, then a relatively much nicer and far more decent guy like Schilling ought to be elected by simple affirmation. Jim Bunning did well representing Kentucky; Schill would do even better representing the Bay State. He has excellent values and a great work ethic.

You never know here. Remember Ed Brooke? But this is a racist, Democrat state so that couldn't have happened. I just don't think we could handle the sheer verbosity of a pompous azz like Schilling. Thanks for the bloody sock. This isn't Minnesota.

Besides, I though he lived in New Hampshire?

He bought Bledsoe's house. I don't remember the town name but it isn't far from Foxboro.
