What jumps out at me is how close some teams are to the cap, even with the big increase. The Titans less than a million under? Raiders and Falcons about a mil and a half? Steelers, Panthers, and Phins at 3, 4, and 4 million, respectively? Well, 3-4 mil ain't too bad noemally, but I guess they should be thankful for the increase. And they are at a disadvantage with everyone else up near 10 mil.

I think thats exactly what they are going to do.

I love 1 June cuts...usually they are very good players and they are being cut because their teams need to get under the cap. Very good players will be available and the teams that smartly manage the cap (Patriots) will be able to grab them.

1) There will be fewer June 1 cuts this year (is it even an advantage) because of the increase in cap money available to the team with the player.

2) June 1 cuts are generally of oever-the-hill players who have overestimated their worth, and want more money.

3) There are lots of teams with $5M of pocket money. Competition will be fierce for the slim pickings available.

Good points all. I agree, there will be little windfall in the post-June 1st period this year, and lots of competition for them.

I don't remember who the June 1st cuts were last year. Anyone?
