Apparently he failed physical, no real specifics on why. He used to be one of the better defensive tackles in the NFL and with Wilfork done for the year and Kelly on the mend I would kick the tires on him, thoughts?!

Was on the PUP with a sports hernia and hamstring injury. Only played 6 games in last two seasons. Can't imagine him being able to add anything. But I guess bringing him in for a workout couldnt hurt. Pats are thin at DL. Obviously.

How much would it cost for a look/see on waivers?

His agent says he will not be healthy enough to play this season.

Jay Ratliff is not yet healthy, his agent says. Says it wasn’t a sports hernia. Muscle ripped off pelvis in two places.Nick Underhill ‏@Nick_Underhill 36m
Ratliff expects to play in 2014. Can’t play this year.

Man, he wouldn't move much, but he'd be a hell of a space eater with that chair. :D

Wouldn't mind if the Pats took a look at him next year, but it sounds like he won't be able to contribute anything anywhere this season. Could be a good Wilfork hedge in 2014 if he comes cheap.

Yep, every season brings about different options in both the draft and free agency. This is the main reason why I don't tend to worry as much as the average fan regarding our own free agents down the road, etc.

For all of the Wendells and Gregorys that may be gone, there are players who will look very good both in the draft and in free agency, so we can't worry about some of these moves as much as many tend to do.

A failed physical anywhere else is a passed physical in New England.

Time to update the "Wish list"

Gordon (still wary, but on board if the cost is reasonable, i.e. Mallett)
Cassel (if Mallett goes as part of a Gordon deal)

Hell, player impact aside, how much would that liven up the trade deadline?

It's interesting that they must feel that Cannon is that much of a liability at RG to consider using Connelly at center (if indeed the coaching staff feels the same way that us fans do about Connelly being better than Wendell).

I'm not sure how this isn't currently being highly considered at the moment?

My only thought is that they feel that Cannon wouldn't be good enough to justify the downgrade at RG. In other words, one wouldn't be worth offsetting the loss of the other. It's possible that Connelly isn't as good as some here think at center too.

It's interesting that Ratliff's agent pointed out that DAL already knew that he likely wouldn't be back this year, and that Ratliff was targeting a 2014 return to football.

Now since a handful of teams have called, it's suddenly worth getting a second opinion and looking into again--as if they have brand new information. That kind of makes me think that Ratliff's condition wouldn't be healthy enough to justify signing him here in N.England. I would think that Belichick would have a higher standard, but that's just my guess.
