Interesting article, implies that instead of regulating or inspecting they were too busy accepting gifts, getting stoned and watching porn.. no wonder that this country is in its current situation.. azzclowns unite..

I'm beginning to think with all the sh!t that is going on in this country and within this government that the only thing that will save us is a "Muslim Takeover" Islam would never tolerate what we have today, The New America.

If the violations started in 2000, it was under Clintons watch.

This is a bureaucracy problem not a Clinton/Bush/Obama problem. The politicans change the bureaucracy has a life of it's own.

Agree. Just pointing out so it isn't a "Blame Bush" problem.

George hasn't been Prez for 16 months. The obamans have has more than enough time to clean up any problems. Or maybe they'll still blame Bush 7 years in.

I would have agreed with you if there weren't 2 screwy wars, the worst recession since the 1930's, financial reform, and health care reform to worry about. I mean, Jesus Christ.

As they said about Bush - "It's on his watch". Not Bush's problem now.

Half inclined to agree, but it's still an amazing list of sh1t we've had to fix. If I were president I'd have de-prioritized this, too. It's a shame the department ever got to such a crappy state. At least when W took office he had a functioning government.

obama has spent most of his time on the health care plan that is unpopular and mostly doesn't go into effect until his second term. He has no-one to blame but himself, not to mention he (like all Presidents) has enough advisers and assistants that "too much to do" simply doesn't work as an excuse.

I would have prioritized health care, too, only a different plan. Remember that the public overwhelmingly support health care reform in the abstract when he took office, so it was the right topic for him to work on.

As for "too much to do" there's an argument that can be made that he had to re-build practically the entire federal government in just 16 months leading up to the disaster. I'd call that "too much to do".

I'm not trying to absolve him of responsibility since the head of MMS appointed in July 1009 should have been on top of this, but I can see why this was below the executive's radar.

If the 2000-2008 claim is true, you're absolutely correct -- 1 year was under Clinton's watch. The other 8 were under Bush.

Where do you get the idea that he has spent most of his time on healthcare?

As for your prior claim that 16 months is "...more than enough time to clean up any problems" -- what problems could / should have been cleaned up by now?

Did you pay attention until a few months ago ? I would put money that he's spent more time on the health care fiasco that on anything else.

Evidently there was something we now know about given the award that this deep water drilling company had just received.

I'm not going to get into everything I would have preferred him do - because the list is too long - but he had 16 months with his people overseeing this oil drilling situation and the disaster happened on his watch. It's his, he owns it.

Why eveything, of course. It's not like he had the Economy, the unemployment problem, China, Russia, North Korea, Immigration, Health Care, Social Security, Medicare, Terrorism, The War in Iraq, The War in Afghanistan, Nuclear Capabilities in Iran, The Palestinian Problem, AIDS, Why Johnny Can't Read, DADT, Gay Marriage,The Budget, governmental corruption, Banks Failing, Wall Street Corruption, Corporate Corruption, The Housing Crisis, Fannie Mae, Freddy Mac, Sally Mae, Cousin Rufus, Welfare cheats, Women wearing Burkas, Pornography, Child Pornography, The Mexican Border, The Canadian Border, Drill, Baby, Drill, The Energy Crisis, Dogfighting, ****fighting, Teenage Pregnancy, Abortion, Stem Cell Research, Alternate Energy Solutions, Gas Prices, State's Rights, Big Pharma, The Vitamin Industry, The Coal Industry, The Oil Industry. Relations with China, Relations with Japan, Relations with Israel, Priests Molesting Children, Airline Safety, Mine Safety, and on and on ad-nauseum to worry about, too.

Let's see - that's 54 "problems" that should have been cleaned up in the last 16 months. That would be 3.4 problems a month - or roughly 1 per week - which would still give him time for a game or two of golf.

You're right - he's had plenty of time to worry about an oil company lying to the government. Sure wasn't anything more important going on.

    Fire him.

    Now.

    Post-Haste.

Blah, blah, blah, the Prez has every assistant possible as his disposal and a failure is not acceptable. He failed. He did. obama. HIS WATCH, HIS FAULT.

BTW, half you list is crap but I'm not getting into that.
