"excessive spending?" really, George? ... what a PoS... go play Army on your Crawford ranch, Boy King...

41 days in Iraq vs. insuring 10 million children.

President Bush has threatened to veto legislation renewing and expanding the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). The legislation would extend health coverage to as many as 10 million children — four million of whom are currently uninsured. Bush has claimed the SCHIP bill contains “excessive spending,” but in fact, just 41 days of the war in Iraq would fully pay for the coverage:

It would also pay for a nice tax refund too. The fact that we're spending the money has nothing to do with how else it should be spent - I pay for my kids, I don't want to pay for your and those of others.

I also don't believe the war cost numbers because I think they're adding in a lot of costs (like soldiers' salaries) which would also be paid with no war.

I'd prefer we weren't spending a Trillion dollars in Iraq, and I'd prefer to not spend billions and billions to pay for somebody elses children. That you toss money away in one place, doesn't mean it's ok to throw money away in another.

ah yes... the mantra of the devout republican.... repeated 4 different ways for us all to digest and enjoy:

"to hell with that... i'm not paying for anyone but myself!!!"

ironic that they're also the "party of God"...

And then you just repeat yourself too. Just a matter of time until Patters shows up and wonders why Republicans are against abortions then don't want to pay for the kids they save.

Here's a hint - if you don't want, or can't afford, your kids - don't get pregnant :bricks:

here's another hint: if you don't like paying into basic services for other Americans, perhaps funding an illegal occupation of a sovereign nation that costs $1.1-1.5 tirllion dollars may seem a bit hypocritical...

Like I said, I'd prefer we weren't there throwing money into a pit, just like I don't think the government should rob hard working people with there own lives to pay for, and subsidize the lives of anyone with a hand out. The truly needy, fine, but not everybody who's simply sticking out a hand.

41 days in Iraq could buy food stamps fo 2000 illegal aliens :singing:

There are no homosexuals in Iran.

I wonder what the NY Times and the Hollywood Wife Swappers would do if George Bush stood on a podium at Berkley University and said "There Are No Homosexuals In Crawford Texas" :singing: :singing:

That would be the beginning of WWIII.

Where the hell are the whining slobbering knee jerk "Gay Rights" democrats,
even Elton John & Rosie "Sow" O'Donnell are behind closed doors, where is Barney Frank, the only people defending the Homosexuals and condeming President Ahamaddiddy are the Hated Republicans.

    Money Pit...

anyhow, BelichickFan, i think the connection is evident... as is the irony...

Con men are always so quick to show outrage when there are calls for "peasant" America to receive basic services or health guidelines (children's health insurance, banning transfats, two perfect examples) -- however, they have no problem asking ALL Americans to fork over an EQUAL percentage of their income for bombs and destruction of a nation of brown people that never attacked us...

it's a painful irony that is bringing this country to its knees... and it's deeply rooted in greed and masochism... what in the world ever happened to true "conservativism" in this country? ... what an embarrassment...

useless, confusing, irrelevant tangent... almost no one ever responds to your posts Harry... in fact, i dare say most skip right over them... i sure do...

You sound like that kid in back to School talking about Vietnam, Iraq is now a sovereign nation, and it has asked us to help them with the terrorists that are invading them, if the Iraqi government asked the US to leave we would. So their is nothing "illegal" about this.

Illegal no, but do you really think we made a great investment, in spending a Trillion dollars over there? Afghanistan was a no brainer, and I know the fears of most when this war was being started, but we'll be at, and most likely over $1 Trillion in Iraq when it's all said and done.
