connor barwin....defensive POM

LOL.......last year's defense is still better than this year's defense.....as for carter, he's had his moments, but 8 of his sacks came in 3 games....what about the other 8?

Barwin's 8.5 sacks came in 5 games. 0 sacks in 6 games. 4 of his 8.5 sacks came from one Jags game from Gabbert, who has 0 pocket awareness. This dude got out of a sack and proceeded to literally throw the ball, shoulders squared, to the sidelines. As amazing as the Aaron Brooks Saints play.

This isn't really second-guessing -- there were droves of folks who felt Barwin was a great fit for this team. They were right.

Also, the idea that because he was "a mid 2nd round pick" is not just irrelevant, it's silly on its face. A mid 2nd round pick is a valuable pick. And who cares WHEN he went -- the people who valued him higher/highly still have a point.

So sick of these posts.

How many players have we seen come into our team after being successful elsewhere and struggle here?

Just because someone excels in another system does not mean he will excel in ours.

Would Barwin have been able to execute the way he has with the responsibilities he would have had here? Would he have been able to learn and execute our defense? Would he have had the right mindset to handle how he would be used here? Were there behavioral red flags that came up during pre-draft interviews?

Until you know the answer to these questions I think you should throttle back the self-righteous BS about who we did or did not draft.

yeeeahhhh.....the system srgument......LMFAO.......what's the system now?

Yes, last year's defense was so much better because of TBC.

So Carter sucks because he got 8 sacks in three games while Barwin is a stud because he got 8.5 sacks in five games. Carter has .5 sacks more than Barwin. That clearly makes Barwin a stud and Carter a dud.

Seriously, you should really drop this argument before you look more foolish than you already have. Only an idiot would not see that Carter and Anderson were great acquistions for the team.

countless of us fans had him in our mock drafts, as did many pundits....

I mean what freaking system did cunningham fit?

barwin was not some player that was pulled out of someone else's arse......he was a relative consensus choice for the pats.

But the games that Barwin didn't get a sack was because the opposing team used their entire gameplan to take him out of the game while Carter got all his sacks because no one cares about him because he sucks so bad.

great....yeah right.....the defense sucks worse than last year and they're great.........keep it going

10 of Demarcus Ware's 14 sacks came in 4 games.

Yeah, but Ware sucks. The Cowboys would be a better defense if they replaced him with TBC.

2 gap vs 1 gap. Learn football please.

why they change the system? I mean they draft guys who fit one system, that didn't work, so they changed the system and left the guys who didn't fit the original system to rot on the bench......good logic......

maybe you should have a clue before you tell someone else to learn something........

How do we know that people who thought he was a good fit for this team is right? He has never played in a two gap system. He is thriving this year in an one gap system. We don't know how he would do with gap assignments and having to read and react.

you guys should go make out in a corner somewhere

tell me again how this defense is bettern than last year

Yes. Go from a 2 gap to a 1 gap...after Bill has lived and coached that same system since the early 80's.
That will fix our Defense.

are we talking 3-4 DL's or OLB's here?

WTF are you talking about? brace never played 2 gap, cunningham, spikes....none of them...

WTF does that have to do with the choices that were made?

you need to pull your head out of somewhere dark

If you're going to post something ******ed because you can't come up with a coherent counter-point or even a half-decent witty retort - don't bother.

another one....do you ever read your posts before you post them?

Hey, let's all point out everyone else's possible mistakes over the past couple years that absolutely nothing can be done about now. Sounds like a great way to go through life.

First, the pass rush in infinitely better than last year. The Pats are on pace to have their first two double digit sack players since 1985.

Second, one player does not make a defense.

Third, defenses in general are worse this year than last year. It has a lot to do with the lockout and lack of padded practices.
