Well that's a decidion for them to make. I would like to have a Ferrari instead of my Dodge but I don't want to make what it costs - maybe I'll have Congress look into it, it's just not fair that I miss out on driving a great car,
This has nothing to do with congress. I could give two ****s about congress. This has to do with the NFL making a poor decision.

p.s. Ferraris are overrated.

I'll agree with that, but it's not my point :) It just irritates me when Congress butts in where it doesn't belong. I guess I should stop or I'll move into things which should be on the political forum :D

Would you feel the same if you were a fan of a team being broadcast on the NFL Network and you were unable to see the game because your cable system did not offer it?

I moved to charlotte, nc for my job which is the area that Time Warner Cable reigns supreme. They don't offer the NFL network or sunday ticket and there's no chance in hell that I'll miss the pats game. I'm a directv guy now, and absolutely love all the sports packages on directv. It would have been nice to not have to make the switch, but a guy has to do what a guy has to do. :)

I don't really mind Congress wasting its time right now since it's a lame duck Congress.

Sunday ticket only being on DirectTV is bull. The NFL is on top and can afford to piss on its customers. The deal was made entirely with money in mind, and with full knowledge that it would negatively impact fans. The NFL has the right to do it and it was probably the smart thing to do financially but I can still hold it against the league.

I tend to side with cable companies when it comes to networks jacking up their prices and fighting for basic status. I was really annoyed when I was living in NY, as a sox fan, and my cable company was one of the many to roll over to YES. All of a sudden I'm paying an extra $2 a month for freaking Yankees games.

Niche networks, and in my ideal world most channels, should be paid for only by the people who want them. I pay for Anime Network because I love anime. Football fans can pay for NFL network themselves.

My personal views aside, the NFL is susceptible to all this talk because of its antitrust exemption. They don't have to play along and entertain Congress as long as they're willing to give that up.

Huh ? Comparing being born with the right to see any game you choose vs. born with the right to state an opinion ?
LOL...I guess you don't know much about the government

I'm lucky, I live in Vegas, so I can see all the games(but no sound most of the time :( ) but I don't like that I have to pay extra to get NFL Network then have to watch commercials, thats PAYING to watch commercials. Thats why Free broadcast has commercials, to pay for the programming.

Way back when I refused to pay for NESN to watch the Bruins, I knew it was only a ploy to soak us for more dollars.

I'm sick of having to pay, pay, pay. I have to pay for cable, pay for the box so I can watch cable, I have to pay for the remote so I can turn on the box that lets me watch cable. OR I can do the same for a dish, but then I have to pay for the privilege of watching local programing. And what do I get from all that paying? More Freakink commercials:mad:

Right now I have just basic cable jacked right into my tv, no box, no nothing, this way I can delete all the junk channels (home shopping, spanish,C-Span and the like), and keep what I like, you can't do that with the BOX. The down side is you can't get pay channels, or is that the up-side?

Same with any cable channel. ESPN, whatever, you're paying for cable and still getting commericals.

Yes, but I don't have to pay more for just one channel. I can justify the cable biil by the reception, and the list of channels that comes with it. Now I have to pay more to watch a football game or two, when does it end? I haven't gotten "digital" cable because it just isn't worth the extra $40.

The 8 billion a year the NFL gets from the networks isn't enough? They have to nickle and dime us too? $40 for cable, (plus more $$$ for HBO, Showtime, cinimax, and all the rest, which I don't have) $25 for internet (DSL, its fast enough for me) $10 for Satalite radio, What else am I missing? They just keep picking you apart.

I don't disagree with anything you've said but that's the way everything works. Everything you buy, you consider lesser options and better options before choosing what you want based on what you can/want to afford. This is no different.

More your comparison...Congress and the government have many many facets and mandates, from more loftier ideals of free speech and rights to many laws regarding commerce the environment and other things. Just a silly comment..either one of total ignorance or just to promote a myopic view of what government should be doing; one person's opinion of that.

Whatever, bud, your part of this thread has moved too far from NFL Sunday Ticket/NFLN for the Patriots forum.

There's an old saying that comes up every time the government passes another law thats "Good for Us". Let the buying public decide. (no reason to go into the smoking in bars issue)

I decided....NO

But I have an out, casino's, they pay for it, I watch it, that is, if I get the chance.

Totally agree. The digital cable is just another expensive option and is the only way I could get NFL Network too. I guess I'll just have to live without the additional football games as well.
