?? Is this meant to be a partisan comment? This bill was led by McCain and Levin (with help from Lieberman), all of whom were big pushers of Iraq and the many Patriot/detention bills during Bush.

    Link?

I read it PASSED, and that the amendment to try to remove that detention language was defeated...

You read wrong, am trying to find the link now..

It's on the back part of this thread... many details, Obama threatened to veto it, then a bill was introduced to overturn it.. it was overwhelmly defeated, due to heavy democratic opposition.

The last link in that thread you posted shows the amendment failed (the amendment to get detention language removed). That's what I was referring to. The bill# is different too.

    [UPDATE]

I found the Levin bill. It PASSED 93-7 on Dec 1st.

What a psycho video! Wonder why the creator wore a mask and disguised his/her voice? I mean if you want to defy your gov't, shouldn't you let them know who you are?

I believe the mask is Guy Fawkes... which is funny because Guy is an Epic Fail Guy for what he tried.

The modern day use of Guy Fawkes in regards to Anonymous comes from V for Vendetta the movie...

Still not able to find more definitive news on it. Can anyone else confirm that the amendment to un-do this detaining failed, but that bill itself passed?

    Dec 8th:
Indefinite military detention for U.S. citizens now in the hands of a secretive conference committee - Blog - OpenCongress

INTERESTING TIDBIT: It also appears that within that bill is this little caveat:

Senate Repeals Bans on Sodomy and Bestiality in the Military | Conservative Byte

Dec 9th: Republicans claim they are completely unaware of such a tidbit within the defense bill
Top Republicans Don?t Remember Endorsing Sodomy, Bestiality In Defense Bill : Personal Liberty Digest™

Huffington Post reiterates much the same thing and as of TODAY, says it's passed: National Defense Authorization Act: Provision Repeals Military Ban On Sodomy
The WH isn't too concerned about it however:
Repeal of sodomy, bestiality ban sparks fight on Defense bill - The Hill's DEFCON Hill

And to think these are the very same people who can arrest us and detain us for as long as they want, wherever they want, and wherever they want?

    Not for nothing but:
Rape in the US military: America's dirty little secret secret | Society | The Guardian This is one of the most horrible things I've read in a long time. The physical changes of these women are absolutely astounding.
And it's not just women being raped and sodomized:
They've all been gang-raped, sodomized, humiliated...torture takes on a new meaning it seems. And these are the people who'll be "detaining" you.

I sure feel safer now don't you.

When it comes to blogs, hysteria is often the rule and never has the adage of it sounds too good to be true it usually is..

For some reason none of his links come up, so it is difficult to assess the source...

Here is the bill in question, good luck reading it ... believe what you are looking for is at the end of Section F, 551.. and the beginning of the next chapter.

Some clarity on the topic at hand...

    Hello
Radical Liberalism has forced this upon us, something had to be done, you can't let the patients run the asylum, you can't let the children run your home, and you surely can't allow the batsh!t loons to run rampant over our country with their 'alice in wonderland bullsh!t'

Unfortunately not. PETA is outraged at the bestiality part of the repeal; as one of those "hysterical blogs" whose links worked just fine for me:rolleyes: pointed out, the sodomy part goes along with Don't Ask Don't Tell. It's the beastiality part that people are a little freaked out about. That along with the horrendus # of reported rapes, you have to wonder wtf is going on, especially now that bill could pass by the end of the week. Anyway, PETA says this about that: PETA knocks W.H. over bestiality | POLITICO 44

Usually I don't bring up old threads (amazing how it became old, considering the implications of this bill but I digress:D); Ron Paul commented on it calling it the legalization of Martial Law. He also added it's a question that should have been asked at the debates. You can listen to his interview, the link's at the very bottom or you can just read his remarks: » Ron Paul: Defense Bill Establishes Martial Law In America Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind!

Ret. Gen. Hutson says passing this bill will be a victory for the "terrorists"-interesting stuff:
Admiral and Judge Advocate General Says Indefinite Military Detention Of U.S. Citizens Is A Win For Terrorists: "The Enemy Is Just Laughing Over This, Because They Will Have Gotten Another Victory"

Nobody will have to invade our country,we're going to torture, detain, and imprison ourselves. With no outside help. And as he says, what enemy is going to surrender to the US when they know their fate will be indefinite detention?

Obama backed down, this will pass as law. 50 years from now people might blame this on liberalism when it was pushed by extreme neocons in Congress
