Tom Curran chimes in Pats releases hint at bad drafting

This weekend, the Patriots have made several moves which are tantamount to saying, "We screwed up." Bully for them for being honest. Shame on them for doing it in the first place .

He has some valid points, but he's definitely stretching his point (seriously, he's complaining about the fact that comp seventh-round picks are being cut, as if somehow this isn't something that happens league wide).

Why acknowlege a valid point like that when they it's easier to call them "mistakes" than developements that most members of the media had them targetted for since they were drafted

Well then BB needs to be castigated as well for cutting these two players although he did resign one to the PS. Apparentlyy he didn't think that much of them either. Which means they aren't far from bustville...a lot closer than the high status that you and that other hold them in.

BB cuts them after 2 training camps ( a 5th and 7th rounder) and you think he should be treated the same as you? A guy who went out of his way to insult 2 players were late round picks and, by definition, can't be busts.

Seems to me that you are the one with the problem. Not Belichick. But then, people like yourself never admit that you acted inappropriately because you never take responsibility for your actions. You always have some excuse to pathetically attempt to justify yourself.

The Patriots have effectively wasted some higher draft picks in the last 5 or so years. Someone needs to be made accountable.

Just so that we're clear. You honestly want people to believe that the Patriots purposely chose players who they knew would fail? Because that is what you are saying when you say they "wasted higher draft picks."

As for accountability, how long have you been a Pats fan? Belichick has accepted responsibility for all the picks. Good and bad. Any intelligent football fan knows that the draft is not an exact science. And any intelligent football fan would look back over the Pats drafts and realize that they've had more success than failures in the first through 3rd rounds. The Pats have also had a better than average success with later round picks and UDFAs.

As for the Pats success of higher round picks over the last five years, lets look at it, shall we?

2006:
Maroney, Jackson, Thomas
2007:
Meriweather
2008:
Mayo, Wheatley, Crable, O'Connell
2009:
Chung, Brace, Vollmer, Tate, McKenzie
2010:
McCourty, Gronkowski, Cunningham, Spike, Price

The only true BUSTS in that group are Jackson, O'Connell, and McKenzie (for now). It's still too early to really jusde the 2009 and 2010 drafts.

This is the make or break year for Wheatley and Crable. Crable wasn't healthy prior to TC, but passed his physical. It remains to be seen.

But lets stop acting like the Pats some how stink in terms of drafting players when they have 19 of 24 picks from the last 2 years on their roster or PS and 2 more players in the league who were taken by other teams via waiver claims. Make that 3 since Welch was claimed by the Vikings.
