FWIW, here's Vernon Gholston's appearances on the stat sheet:

3-J.Feely kicks 68 yards from NYJ 30 to NE 2. 27-E.Hobbs to NE 33 for 31 yards (16-B.Smith, 56-V.Gholston).

And here's our rookie LB:
3-S.Gostkowski kicks 62 yards from NE 30 to NYJ 8. 29-L.Washington to NYJ 38 for 30 yards (59-G.Guyton, 3-S.Gostkowski). NE-41-R.Ventrone was injured during the play.

3-14-NYJ 26 (1:56) 29-L.Washington right guard to NYJ 33 for 7 yards (93-R.Seymour, 59-G.Guyton).
4-1-NE 31 (4:28) 6-C.Hanson punts 47 yards to NYJ 22, Center-66-L.Paxton, downed by NE-59-G.Guyton.
2-11-NYJ 43 (12:42) (Shotgun) 4-B.Favre pass short left to 89-J.Cotchery to NE 48 for 9 yards (23-J.Webster). FUMBLES (23-J.Webster), RECOVERED by NE-59-G.Guyton at NE 40. 59-G.Guyton to NE 40 for no gain (29-L.Washington).
2-15-NYJ 15 (14:24) (Shotgun) 4-B.Favre pass incomplete short middle to 29-L.Washington (59-G.Guyton).

Not the rookie LB you were expecting? :D

did the stat sheet for mayo exceed the length limit on a post :D

Both Guyton and Mayo look great....Gholston will be a good LB still IMO but mayo should be a probowler this year no joke - hes second in the league to only Dqwell jackson (butchered that name i think) ...

In addition, Woods is looking better too!! I think the weak link is our CB and S

Not bad. The Jets looks to have used the 6th pick in the draft and spent $50 million on a special teams guy who cannot return kicks or punts. Great value there.

I am beginning to wonder if Gholston will ever be a good LB. I think he may be more suited to be a DE in the 4-3. From everything I have seen and read, the guy is struggling as an OLB in the 3-4. Not every fast, strong DE can be converted into OLB and that was the risk the Jets were making with this guy. He seems to be heading to Mike Mamula territory, but still way too early to declare that definitely.
