It is difficult for many to understand, but the Democratic Party is inconclusive and includes many different folks..

Does not mean that the views of everyone is embraced, but that all are welcome...

Other parties tend to be more exclusive, and how do you say it.. waspy & white???

So you're saying that the Republican party excludes blacks and other minorities?

You do know that David Duke first ran as a Democrat, right? Although he didn't win like Robert Byrd. :D

he's not saying that at all and you know it. Blacks and minorities are more drawn to the democratic party - which is their freedom of choice. either party could change their platform to change their demographic makeup but that is a different discussion - all are welcome to join either or other parties.

Whatever term is used, it's usually because they're obviously voting against their best interests, and contributing to the disenfranchisement of their own people.

It's the same with homosexual Republicans. Brain-washing is strong within your party.

Wow...Are you African American? If your not how would you lknow what their best interests are? From where I sit the Dems haven 't done a helluva lot to improve the plight of the black people in the past 60 years.

I might be. How is this relevant? Do you?

Disagreed, but even if you're right....

    not-a-helluva-lot > zero (or worse)

So you don't know what's best for them. You just feel minorities voting Republican is sensible due to your "see no evil, hear no evil" narrative. Noted.

Do we really need to revisit the civil rights record and curious voter demographic strategies of your party the last 60 years? It won't go very well for you.

I'd say the "proof" stares the world right in the face, in everything from this to this to this.

The reality is that for most minorities it is government that gave them liberty, especially the federal government. For blacks, women, disabled people, gays, and others, their rights began with social movements in some of the more liberal states, which led to court rulings and ultimately legislation on the national level. If not for the federal gov., we might still have slavery in the south, and certainly not have civil rights, voting rights, women's rights, and gay rights in much of the country. Let's remember it's less than a decade ago that the Supreme Court struck down state laws making same sex activity illegal. Fourteen states at that time had laws outlawing gay relationships. Even today, it's legal to discriminate against gays in most of the red states and some of the purple states on such things as housing and employment. So, people who feel vulnerable to the tyranny of the majority tend to support the Democrats, because the Democrats support a government that will protect people even when right wingers don't want to.
