The replay review corrected the bad TD call. The low blow on Peyton is the Palmer rule. Like it or hate it, it's going to be called a lot from now on. They totally blew the roughing call when they tried to rip Peyton's head off. And if they were ball washing the Colts, I think that they would have been calling the holding calls against the Skins when they were constantly tackling Freeney. They may have call it once if they called it at all.

Bingo. I think that a lot of fans on this board let their hatred of the Colts really effect their posting.

    #75 Jersey

So true. This board has been told that Rob Morris who has never signed with another team or played for another team was a free agent loss of the Colts.:)

And this is news to anyone?

Go ahead Peyton, give us some more plays out of the playbook to prepare for in a couple of weeks.

Well just to play devil's advocate but...

    A) The point chart tells you if you are up 19, it's better to try for the 2 point conversion to be up by 3 td's than to kick an extra point that won't help you.

    B) The Colt's running attack is terrible. Perhaps the passing game is the only way they have to keep the first downs coming to eat up the clock. Not to mention with receivers like Harrison and Wayne why wouldn't you go to the air?

    C) This will have no effect in the postseason as the Colts will find out that a one dimensional offense will get eaten up by playoff caliber defenses. :D

Good point. Your opponents have been horrible. If you run 'well' against Denver then I'll take it back.

According to NFL.com the Colts have the 18th best rush offense in the league in terms of total yardage. Not as bad as I thought. My perception must have been colored by the earlier games in the season when Addai was sputtering.

    http://www.nfl.com/stats/teamsort/NFL/OFF-RUSHING/2006/regular?sort_col_1=7&_1:col_1=5

Team G Att Att/G Yds Avg Yds/G TDs FDs 20+
    Indianapolis 6 173 28.8 667 3.9 111.2 7 44 1

3.9 YPC is hardly close to your claimed numbers of 4.7 ypc though.

When I do my numbers, I only include Rhodes and Addai. Not Manning or trickery plays. When I say 4.7 I mean 4.07. I've fixed to clarrify.

I don't think the Colts running O is terrible but I do think your stats are wrong.

Here is what the colts have done this year:
Name Rush Yds Y/G Avg Lng TD
    Joseph Addai 70 354 59 5.1 21 1
    Dominic Rhodes 92 299 49.8 3.3 17 3
    Peyton Manning 8 10 1.7 1.3 8 2
    Ran Carthon 3 4 1.3 1.3 3 1
    Total 173 667 111.8 3.86 21 7
    Total w/o Manning 165 657 110.1 3.98 21 5

So I have no idea where you got 4.7 per attempt - OR the 4.07 you fixed it down to be.

162 rushing attempts for 653 yards. 653 divided by 162 = 4 and change yards per rush. Do the math my friend. It's 4 yards a rush.

They were trying to run up the score and I don't blame them. The redskins tried to push them around and rough them up so if you can dish it out you've gotta take it too.

    Ryan and Workhorse:

My hats off to you for coming here and defending your team with reasonable and sensible responses.

But I just cannot get past the simple fact that the Colts have the attitude that they need to score as many points as possible-despite having the game well in hand. And having a decent defense too.

I guess I have seen too many games where Peyton will call for a pass play on 1st and goal from the 1 yard line and keeps throwing until he gets another TD pass.

Maybe, its because I have had to read too many of his comments about "We're the better team" after losing game after game to the Pats. Despite the Pats complimenting the Colts before and after the game.

So my permanent opinion of Peyton is he is a sore loser and is extremely concerned about being the statistical passing leader in the NFL.

With all the defending of the "running up the score" around here I did a quick search on terms like Classless an Colts and Manning and found a few gems from the past. (There's really about half a million posts about Classless Colts, too bad the board got blown up and the 2004 posts are all gone. There were some doozies back in there! This one was amusing because of the title and that it was from about this time last year.)

You have a great team doing great things and this will hopefully be another great game. If teams don't want the Patriots scoring so much they need to stop it on the field, not in the locker room.

You don't need to make excuses for clobbering other teams. But be careful throwing stones at other teams for the same thing!

So here's quick bump and run! And here's to a great game on Sunday, hopefully a preview to another AFCCG in the nice warm dome!

I'm sorry, but I don't see that much difference between what the Colts are doing and what we did to the Redskins.

Running it up is running it up.

The only thing that gives me some comfort is that I truly believe the Colts are doing it (and have always done it) for the stats, while the Patriots are doing to tell the league to go $%@# themselves!

Either way, I could care less at this point. I want another Championship... plain and simple.

If we wipe the floor with every oponent and then wipe the floor with them again for leaving a greasy skid mark the first time, so be it. If we happen to go undefeated... hooray! If we break half the NFL records in the process... yippee! Honestly, I don't give d@mn, so long as we win that championship.

Although I wouldn't mind seeing the Colts severly humbled this coming week.

When did the..."if the can do it so can we" argument come into vogue?

Thanks for pointing out this widely-practiced double standard. Perhaps a few people will think instead of just reacting. I find it sad that so many trash the Colts and then look the other way when our own team does the same thing (if not blantantly "worse").
