This was attributed to Cris Collinsworth last night in the Boston Globe. He's a former player and a lot of folks take him seriously.

"Now is when we need rational men like Robert Kraft to step forward. Mr. Kraft was a fan long before he became an owner. He is a terrific family man who can see the same view of this process that we are all watching. Please Mr. Kraft take the lead."

I think the problem with Kraft taking the lead is that he isn't necessarily the one that is pushing this thing. If it was totally up to him he would probably already have a deal done. This dispute is about the less profitable owners that feel they need more. I highly doubt they would look upon a Kraft or Jones as representative of their interests.

Obviously Robert Kraft is very well respected by pretty much everyone in the NFL. I think that the Jerry Richardsons/Ralph Wislon types do not want him speaking for them. Kraft built his own stadium, built the taj Mahal that is now Foxboro and has revenue streams outside of his very sucessful football team. He can afford to take a fianancial hit, but Richardons/Wilson can not. Jones and Kraft drove the bus on this last CBA, and the other owners want a crack at it now. I think this (and some health issues) are why Bob Kraft has not been to involved with this process..............

While we are asking Bob Kraft to do something, I would like to take this moment to renew my yearly quest: hey Mr. Kraft how bout you buy the Bruins!!!

Not a chance, Jon Kraft was the architect of the last deal and that was too reasonable for the Mike Browns and Jerry Richardsons, who don't invest in their franchises but feel they should receive rewards as if they did. it was no coincidence that those were the owners present for this mediation as they are the ones who absolutely don't want a deal done and want to crush the players.

To date not one person has been able to make a factual case for why the deal Kraft created was bad for ownership, and record attendance, ratings, merchandise sales, TV deals and new streams of revenue all point to the reality that it was not a bad deal in any way but that the owners want to gouge future profits to the greatest extent possible.

Take the Lead?

Sounds like what a horse trainer will tell his jockey to do in this weeks Preakness Stakes.

LOL, Collinsworth was one of the loudest mouths calling for the worst possible punishments for the Patriots spygate scandal. Now he's asking for favors from their owner.

Yeah, the only problem is that the horses that the jockeys are leading are smarter than some of the owners Kraft would have to lead.

The majority of the other owners are more comparable to Jackasses than Horses.

How are we supposed to give you hard facts on that when we dont know the expenses and income of every team in the NFL. Some teams obviously feel the deals not fair so the owners opted out. Doesnt matter what we think, its not our business that we bought with our money and not our time and effort going into running the team.
Its no secret unless you live in a cave that expenses have gone up, prices have gone up on almost everything and its a pretty safe bet that the tax payers arent going to be handing money over the these teams any more like they've done in the past.

This is "the deal was good enough" is how children think about things.

It doesn't really matter how profitable the 2006 deal was. Maybe it was an incredible deal for the owners, I don't know and it doesn't actually matter. What matters is the owners want a better deal now and think they can get it. Time will tell if they're right.

So true. If the union had only accepted the owners offer for summaries from independent auditors maybe we'd have a little information we could hang our hats on.

100% correct.
