Retired Gen. Colin Powell, former Secretary of State under President George W. Bush, is to reportedly endorse Sen. Barack Obama.

Weekly Standard's Bill Kristol told FOX News of the endorsement on Thursday, and later, former national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski repeated the same claim, adding that Powell might even "potentially speak at the Democratic National Convention," per the Huffington Post.

Stunning. Powell is half Democrat to begin with. And blacks are voting 95% for Obama. So . . . you do the math.

I'm not shocked ... Powell is more of a diplomacy General than he is a war monger. I was surprised when he joined the Bush administration ... of course they were just using him ... I am not surprised by this.

Did you say that when he supported Bush on going into Iraq ? Most Liberals were calling him all kinds of names for fabricating his speech to the U.N. which they were sure he knew to be false at the time; that was a KEY speech at the time.

Powell said Kristol's statements were nonsense.

I don't see it. The guy could have done a lot of things (blow whistle on Bush Admin.), I don't see him publicly endorsing Obama. May vote for him (not a black thing) but will not endorse him.

When you are part of an administration you act accordingly, I do not agree with what he did then.. but believe that he is basically an honest person and a proven warrior... more honest than most.. I am not talking VP, talking more of an advisory role.

I don't know what the Bushies knew - but if they knew they were lying as the Liberals say, you don't act accordingly - you resign.

As I understand it, he did not know he was lying.. and was relying on the information provided to him.. without regard for the banter, always liked this man.. he did resign.

I've always liked Collin Powell. I was hoping back in 2004 that GW would can Cheney as VP, and insert Powell as his running mate during reelection. Unfortunately that never happened. Anyhow, a couple of observations...

It's funny how people who hate the war, hate (or at least criticized) Powell, and blasted his speech at the UN, now have wonderfull things to say about him, with the surfacing of some rumor that he might endorse Obama, and possibly speak at the Dem convention. Ain't politics grand? :D

Also, with 90+% of blacks supporting Obama, should anyone be surprised when something like this happens? While I understand why people of color are supporting BO at such a high rate, it's still for the wrong reasons. You don't vote for representation because of skin color, gender, heritage, ethnicity, etc. You should always vote for an elected official because he represents what's best for the country moving forward. IMO anyway.

Lastly, a Powell endorsement would be a tremendous coup for Obama. Powell is still very well respected in most circles. He's a stand up guy who didn't pass the buck after the fact. He has no chance of being VP, but I could foresee him being a part of an Obama administration, were one to exist. I'm curious to know what McLame's, and CP's relationship was/is like. Are they friends? Do they have a good rapport? That would probably give us an idea of the legitimacy of an endorsement. If McLame and CP are close, I doubt he'd want to whiz on McLame like that. If not, then it's possible.

Is this one of those times where you get ripped for acting like a lazy tool who has to dismiss everyone else as "communist," and then punt to "lighten up" sentiment?

Anyhow, C-Span has been showing the fascist AEI viewpoint 24/7 since Russia invaded Georgia... How much TIVO space you got left?

Big fan of the AEI, I'll bet you are... or do you prefer the Heritage Foundation?
