The next few weeks will be interesting. No OC, no QB coach and Reiss is saying that Capers and Seely are expected to not be back.

I wonder if Belichick is talking to any Carolina assistants, they're all being invited back but their contracts are up. Ex Belichick assistants Jeff Davidson (OL here, OC there) and Scott O'Brien (ST) are there.

Patriots style dictates the moves will be careful and only fast if it's possible to be both. Odds are there's a plan in place to look after the Josh situation.

Are there any college coaches that might slide into the bigs to work with the Pats?

My preference would be to bring back Davidson and Crennel as our coordinators.

Crennel is reportedly heading back to Cleveland after hip surgery, sadly (for us).

Losing Seely is not good. He's an excellent special teams coach. Good lord, it's almost like our coaching staff and front office are being gutted.

Who knows. It may be a blessing in disguise. Maybe whomever the Pats bring in will be able to incorporate the reserve players better into the coverage units so that any injuries that might occur to the top players will result in less of a drop off. The kick coverage unit hasn't exactly been stellar the last 2 years.

Hmm Jeff Davidson seems like a very interesting canidate. He has been with us prior so he knows the system and some of the personell and he has been calling the plays in Carolina so he has experience with that.

One would wonder why he would want to leave there for the same position here? I know we have a better chance at SBs but they have as good a chance as any NFC team over the next few years.

I imagine he won't leave but . . . if you want your shot as a HC, does recent history suggest working for John Fox or Bill Belichick ? Heck, I'm expecting Bill O'Brien to get a HC interview any day now ;)

That doesn't make any sense. Think about it. Lets say you fire someone, and hire a replacement who was friends with the person you fired. Then you are going to rehire the person back in a position under the replacement? I don't think RC needs the money that bad.

Well sometimes change is good too..who knows. Remember BB brought in a lot of guys in cleveland from ground up and no program really to who are in the league/college now like jim schwartz, ossie newsome, saban, savage, pioli, kirk ferentz, pat hill
so if he do it once , he can rebuild again

Reiss is stating, "according to an NFL source", yet he 's provided no proof of their "defections". Reads like he trusts his source, but is still uncertain with this heading:

Capers and Seely next to go?

I'm very surprised by Seely, not so with Capers.

Can't think of any off the top of my head, but did any of you see the 60 Minutes report on Mike Leach (Texas Tech) a few weeks back?

Now imagine what he could do with Moss and Welker. :D

I'm not worried about it - more curious. Belichick knows so many people in football that he always has leads to good people it seems.

I dunno, did special teams impress this year outside of Gost? Pretty much lost the Jets game. Bye Brad..

why do all of these teams want our coaches? I thought spygate was a huge deal around the NFL (with other teams) and any coach associated with BB would all be vilified and black balled forever!

I agree w/you. I would love to get Davidson back here as OC: Panthers.com - Jeff Davidson Since Crennel is staying in Cleveland, best bet is to stick w/Dean Pees.

As I posted in another thread, if Seely's contract expired this year (and, of course, the Patriots don't discuss such things), then he's free to do whatever he wants. [If he were still under contract, then he couldn't do a horizontal transfer unless the Patriots allowed it.]

Does Mangini ever stop? Seriously all he's ever done since he left here is go after our ex players and take a coach or two with him on his way out:mad:
I'm sick of his Pats/BB fetish.
If Seely's going to go so be it, but I'll believe it when I actually see it confirmed.

Mangini's the NFL guru apparently, and the Browns might just take over the world
