    THANK GOD!!!!....

the last thing we need is clean air....or to preserve our national parks. I say *** 'em! lets put in power plants!

The Bush administration is on the verge of implementing new air quality rules that will make it easier to build power plants near national parks and wilderness areas, according to rank-and-file agency scientists and park managers who oppose the plan.

The new regulations, which are likely to be finalized this summer, rewrite a provision of the Clean Air Act that applies to "Class 1 areas," federal lands that currently have the highest level of protection under the law. Opponents predict the changes will worsen visibility at many of the nation's most prized tourist destinations, including Virginia's Shenandoah, Colorado's Mesa Verde and North Dakota's Theodore Roosevelt national parks.

Nearly a year ago, with little fanfare, the Environmental Protection Agency proposed changing the way the government measures air pollution near Class 1 areas on the grounds that the nation needed a more uniform way of regulating emissions near protected areas. The agency closed the comment period in April and has indicated it is not making significant changes to the draft rule, despite objections by EPA staff members.

just when I can't be more stupified......I am.

We need more power! We need cheaper energy!

Well...we can't have a power plant here, or there, or over there...and we can't have those windmills 20 miles off of Nantucket either....

Why don't we have more power? Why is energy so expensive? Why hasn't the president done something to help?

there is plenty of room on the Crawford Ranch for a power plant, I hear a lot of brush has been cleared.

There is actually a power plant of source. GWB's got a geothermal well goin' on there to help reduce his carbon footprint.

As opposed to Gore's house...you know, the one that uses half the power of Nashville...

Didn't what? Take a cheap shot at Gore for being the big enviro star while he wastes a ton of energy, meanwhile, GWB gets no credit for building a small house, of reclaimed materials (a lot of it), using plantings and geothermal and a rainwater cistern etc? Yes, I did.

Clinton's fault? Okay, how about it. During the 8 years of Clinton/GreenMan, what positive steps were taken to reduce the demand for foreign oil. Tell me what they did?

BTW, Clinton lowered a bunch of standards too. Drinking water, things like that. I'm not saying it's good or bad, just that GWB isn't the only one playing.

If by "coming on to you" you mean. Disagree with almost everything you've stated in this thread? Then, Yes.
