listening to clayton, et al and their double talk is hilarious. all i'm hearing from them now is jibberish. they're all speechless and it's great.

Wait! We didn't make up the word exonerfied on this board?

I'm so disappointed.

"In retrospect, some things could have been done so that Spygate didn't have to drag on from September until now. It would have helped if Goodell had been clearer at the start in saying Belichick admitted spying on coaching in games since 2000. Given that revelation, Walsh would not have been caught in the media vise since Super Bowl week; he could have just told the league his tapes weren't anything new."
.

Isn't this pretty consistent with most of us knew and was posted here in various forms since last September??? What a freakin idiot, what does he make 2-3 millions..

New strategy blame it on Goodell..

Re: Clayton "Patriots Going To Be Exonerfied"

Because he looks like a moron, that's why. Oh wait, he already looked like a moron? You don't say. Poindexter and all the other nincompoops at ESPN have already started backpeddling like there is no tomorrow... and I'm loving every second of it. :D

People who look like pencil-neck geeks...like Mr Clayton, shouldn't be allowed to have anything to do with announcing a sport like football!! I mean, c'mon now...are you serious?

He's the kind of guy who never played a damn sport in his life and still can't figure out how to throw a spiral. If he's right-handed, he probably looks like he's throwing lefty.

Can anyone even fathom how this twerp even got a start on television commentary? I almost laugh every time I see him give one of his speels. He does not have a face for television...unless your talking an acne medication commercial!

Can you say ZIT-I-FIED?

Re: Clayton "Patriots Going To Be Exonerfied"

ESPN Cold hard facts, as response to the taping discourse (in which very little was actually stated), Clayton basically says "the tapes were already on something that was already there, so I think right now you're going to see the Patriots exonerfied and they're going to be, at least now, this spygate incident is over"

I tried, probably missed a few things, but my wife is looking at me rewinding like I lost my mind, so that's about the best I can repeat it.

Edited to add the grammar issues are correct, it was stammering at the end, he obviously didn't sound thrilled to admit it.
If this was spoken word, I'd give him a mulligan. Who among us don't create the occasional made-up word as we think on our feet?

Had this been print, then we could go to town with this.

Wow. Just...wow.

The best part of this quote is that it was known and it was reported by Chris Mortenson of ESPN!

Clayton and his network just chose willingly to under report that aspect of the story because it would have limited speculation and the story life would have been limited.

Was it this guy :

MMMMMMMMMMMMM-K

Yup, you heard it here first folks. Exonerfied. Clayton. Not only is this douchebag backing away from his harsh criticism, but he's doing it with words he makes up on the spot. Nice. Exonerfied. Pencil that one in for Webster 2008.
He didn't make that up. He heard it from George Bush. :D But seriously folks, Clayton is an idiot. He comes across as scholarly because of the way he looks, but in reality he is dumber than a doorknob. As another example, how many times have you heard him use the phrase "Also too, ..."? It's not "also too", it's "also", or it's "too". One or the other. The way he says it is repetitive and redundant. (And if you don't get that that last phrase is tongue in cheek, you're also too dumber than a doorknob.)

Exonerfied: To be exonerated of a crime or illegal action, yet still be vilified by the media and public.

How's that sound? I can think of a few examples, but none are worthy comparisons to NE's plight.

THAT DRIVES ME F'ING NUTS and he says it about a billion times in each report he does to boot! I also too :)D) hate how he says "ne-go-see-ate" instead of "ne-go-SHE-ate".

Re: Clayton "Patriots Going To Be Exonerfied"

He most certainly meant Exonerated. He most certainly said Exonerfied. I rewound my DVR and replayed it no less than 10 times to try and get the quotes right for Schmessy until my wife looked at me like I wasn't going to get dinner. Exonerfied. He was stumbling though much of it, nothing came out of his mouth cleanly, it was stammery and stuttery (hey if he can make up words so can I).
Between their ad revenue and cable subscriptions one would think they could afford to do two or three takes if need be to prevent Emmitt-isms from entering the public domain in the age of you tube, tivo, and dvr's.

Maybe they did and that was the best they came up with...

That's exactly the play on words he intended. He couldn't bring himself to say exonerated, so he invented a word to convey exonerated but still villified, i.e., not forgiven.

There's not an ethical bone in these guys' bodies. They're out to influence people, not report.
