Boston should puke on itself so it'll look better. This city already has some of the worst nightlife in the country, and now they're trying to make it worse. In an effort to tell people how to live, cuz the government doesn't do enough of that as is, the city is eliminating a patron's right to buy a bottle of booze. I've done bottle service a few times in my life, in different cities, including Boston. It's not cheap, but is nice when you've got a big group, or are out on a special occasion. The mark up is outrageous, but so isn't the mark up for any drink. The biggest point of bottle service is convenience & enjoyment. When you're with a group of say 10-15, you don't need to find a watress every 3 minutes when a person needs a drink. The nanny state. See, we can't let your group buy a bottle, in someone's private establishment, because we think you might drink too much.

    This city so sucks.

City cracks down on nightclub ‘bottle service’

    By Dave Wedge
    Thursday, April 17, 2008 - Updated 18h ago

The party is coming to an end for Grey Goose-swilling big shots as the city’s licensing czar says he’s banning “bottle service,” an expensive perk that draws high-rollers to Hub hotspots.

The service - a staple in exclusive nightclubs from Miami to Manhattan to Las Vegas - allows big spenders to have private VIP tables in exchange for purchasing a bottle of high-end booze, usually for $300 or more. Servers bring buckets of ice, tumblers and non-alcoholic mixers to make ****tails.

But Boston Licensing Board Chairman Daniel Pokaski is cracking down, saying the pricey service violates state and city alcohol laws.

“This is totally prohibited and it won’t be tolerated,” Pokaski said. “It’s not going to happen in Boston. It’s just wrong. It forces alcohol consumption.”

:mad:Sounds like Pokaski has a problem and he's making everyone else pay for his inability to control himself. It's like all the politicians and priests who rail against same sex rights and turn out to be worse than the ones they rail against. I'd bet if we searched the chairman's desk we'd find a bottle of something.

    Welcome to Zero Tolerance America.

Also take not at how the sheep continue to stand idly by and permit the Nanny State to tell them how to live their lives. Boston and Massachusetts is no worse than the rest of this country. Uptight, intolerant, and full of sh!t.

This stuff drives me to.....I won't say it. Foggy will get mad at me.:rocker:

That seems ridiculous and pointless. I'm all for those states that are thinking of lowering the drinking age. There's more to life than longevity.

But, what's interesting about this issue is that if you look at different states, it's difficult to associate this issue with Democrats or Republicans, though clearly drinking is more restricted in conservative southern towns than in liberal northern ones.

If you want to drink from a bottle:

Put dirty clothes on, pull a black wool hat down over your ears, p!ss your pants, then sh!t your pants and leave it in there, put your bottle in a brown paper bag, then sit on the steps of the State House, hold up a sign that says "F-CK YOU", you can drink out of your bottle day and night for a month and nobody will bother you.

That screwball Governor In Mass might even bring you home to meet his kids.

Didn't Stephanopolous ask Hillary about this during the debate?
