Someone (13) started a bogus thread about Muslims killing Christians, OK heres the real deal. Both sides are killing each other.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/10/world/africa/10egypt.html?hp

CAIRO — Eleven people died in overnight fighting between Christians and Muslims in the suburbs of Cairo, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday, in the deadliest unrest since the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak last month

The clashes broke out during a protest by several hundred Christians over the burning of a church in the village of Soul last week and raged into the early hours of Wednesday morning, adding to a sense of unease as the country begins to chart a post-Mubarak future.

    here's a link: 11 killed in Muslim-Christian clashes in Egypt - World news - Mideast/N. Africa - msnbc.com

The content of the article suggests that the thread was not all that bogus. Now that the Genie is out of the bottle it's going to be tit for tat with both side looking for some moral high ground

Actually your thread confirms the attacks on Coptic churches I referenced. It is laughable to think that a monority (Coptic Christians are <5% of the population of Egypt Muslims >95% are provoking attacks against the majority who control the Army , Police ect.

What, 10% wasn't small enough for you you had to shave more than half of it off?

Can you tell the truth about anything, 13? Why do you persist in making such blatantly untruthful statements even when the facts are right in front of everyone's faces?

You do realize, don't you, that you'd be much more effective if you stuck to the truth instead of constantly providing your own little distortions to everything you write?

(from each of the cited articles)

Following that attack, Cairo was rocked by several days of rioting between Christian protesters and the police. Egypt has long wrestled with sectarian tension between Muslims and Christians, who make up about 10 percent of the population and complain of widespread prejudice.

Coptic Christians make up about 10 percent of Egypt's population of 80 million.

Whether it's 5 or 10%, it's still a vast minority. It's what I consider "close enough to get the idea across".

If someone says 5% one day and 10% another...it doesn't affect one's credibility one iota....

...except to a type-A nit-picker who actually believes this a debating site where some "WIN" and some lose...which it is not.

There was no validity to what your thread stated. It wasn't based on fact, no monks were being machine gunned by the Egyption Army

PR, your point has some validity but it's 13's fault that you even need to make it. The 10% the article sites paints the picture well enough but halving it for effect only draws attention and might look like he's trying to mislead us. I might give the benefit of the doubt but mistake or not, he's stolen his own thunder with it.

Well that certainly explains why so many people still believe the commentators on FOXNews.

Well, I know you and 13 have your issues, so I'm not going to get involved any more.

Unlike you & I who are bestest buddies!;)

Didn't read the article at all. I am aware of the attacks on the Christian moinority in Egypt.

Some need nits to pick when they can't agrue the issues.

You guys are arguing over something stupid. The reason that some say 5% and some say 10% is because there are no hard numbers on the percentage of Coptic Christians in Egypt. Consider it a relic of the Mubarak regime.

At least we can dispense with the silly notion that Egyptian is a utopia of religious tolerance compared to America.

Has anybody suggested that's the case?

Not for nothing, but what does it matter what the percentage is....they're a minority with a capital M.

Do you find it equally laughable to think that a minority of Muslims in the USA (2.4% of the population) are provoking attacks against the American majority?

If you find it laughable that Egyptian Muslims (90%) might fear coptic Christians (10%) why do you not find it equally laughable that American non-Muslims (97.3%) fear American Muslims (2.7%) enough that several states and local municipalities are trying to pass laws banning Sharia laws which have never even been considered?

Because there is a history of Jiahd against American Infiedels by American Muslims (Fort Hood being just 1 example and no similar pattern of attacks on Muslims.

Of course in Egypt the government give tacit if not explicit approval to violence against Christians. See the rantings by the Head of the MB against Non Muslims and their status and the results of the Pew and Zogby polls.

This is why non Muslims are being driven out of Muslim countries (think ethnic cleansing) and Muslims want to move here, If Muslims in American were treated the way non Muslims are in Muslims countries they wouldn't be emigrating here.
