Have never been able to reconcile the christian ethos and any form of torture, seem to be mutually exclusive...

    Mel Gibson begs to differ.

So does any Christian who believes in literal hellfire.

Is Mel Gibson someone you listen to and respect?? He is just another left coast situationalist imo....

George Bush differed also, so??? Personally cannot reconcile it... particularly from a christian point of view..

Fundamentalism and morality are incompatible. (So are fundamentalism and logic, but that's a different matter.) Both Gibson and Bush purport to be fundamentalists.

That's why decent Christians have tap-danced around the illogic of their faith for centuries.

Personally, I think believing in even a relatively benign form of Christianity does the world more harm than good, but I can be respectful of those who vehemently disagree with that. But I can't be respectful of real or purported fundamentalists.
