"We have a lot of talent in this room," Baker continued. "You look around and we have three of four Hall of Famers, maybe more, sitting in the room with you. That makes a huge difference. We're very confident. We feel pretty good."

Jets feel time now on their side against aging Patriots

Is he 4 serious? Favre is the only shoe-in I see. Coles? Faneca? Was Law in the room?

    #61 Jersey

I think he was talking about guys who went on the tour there last season...

Certainly he wasn't referring to his team mates. If he was, he's probably gonna fail his next random urine test.

It's funny, but the first thought that popped into my head was "Wait, do they have pics of Namath and Martin on the walls of the locker room?"

Maybe he was counting Vernon Gholston.

Ok, there is a fineline between confidence and dillusion. Three or four Hall of Famers and maybe more? Ok, Favre yes and maybe Faneca and Law, but who else. None of those guy are playing anywhere close to their HOF level. That is as dumb as how the media overrates their o-line because all the starters are first round picks.

Wilfork studies other players at his position, like San Diego’s Jamal Williams and Casey Hampton in Pittsburgh, and believes that Jenkins is right up there with them.

simple question...how come he doesnt study jenkins?

Big prize there. With guys like LT and Joseph Addai playing like crap, there are only two AFC guys in the top 10 in rushing. Besides, the pass protection has been great and the media was touting the line as great even when Thomas Jones was not running well for a decent stretch this season. Jones has 750 yards this season and 409 were in three games (136.3 YPG) and 341 were in the other six (56.8 YPG). He hasn't been the model of consistency.

this is what wilfork said dont kill me, im just the messenger. He studies them by reviewing game tape. Top guys at their position usually monitor their peers, and Wilfork acknowledge Jenkins as an elite caliber NT in the game, which he is.

So the jets line gets no credit b/c its a weak AFC rushing year? Besides being the NFL's leading rusher he also is 5th in the NFL. Your not allowed to omit games from players stats, he had statistically good games vs the Pats and Bills despite limited carries

They have Damien Woody starting for them.

The only team that I would have Damien Woody starting would be ina hot dog eating contest.

    Enough said.

Let's not get too off-track here. The Jets have been good at rushing the ball and stopping the rush this year. and Jenkins has been very very good. No need to question these.

But who are the HOFers? Favre is a definite, obviously, but Law (is he really even a Jet, yet, after 48 hours with the team?) is iffy. Perhaps he was thinking about Faneca but that seems a stretch. And no one on any team should be putting their youngsters in there yet...

    K-Ro and Gunnails--ideas?

Heck, maybe he was looking at the photos...lol

It has to be Favre, Law, and Faneca but it is a rather idiotic comment to make.

They get credit, but it doesn't change that they are overrated. Their pass protection is suspect and the Jets' running game has been inconsistent. If Jones runs like he has in the games that weren't Miami, Oakland or St. Louis; Jones is not going to be in the top 10 when the season is done though. That is why I discount it a bit because he had 308 yards in two games which will skew his stats for the season. You need to look beyond the stats some times especially when looking at only a part of a season. Jones has as many games under 60 yards of rushing as he has with over 100 yards of rushing (3 with both).

It was like that stupid argument on this board that Favre is one of the top QBs this year that was going on just after the Arizona game because he led the league in TDs, but it was only because of the Arizona game which has proven to be a statistical anomally (great performance, but still not indicative of his production this year).

    arent these good/solid games?

@ buffalo 12 carries 69 yards 5.8 YPC 1 TD (especially this game b/c he was running very well but for some reason we didnt give him the ball enough)

vs NE 17 carries 70 yards

    vs CIn 17 carries 65 yards 2 TD's?

    Changing the subject:

How many HOF do the Patriots have on their roster? Remeber that BB would rather have three red chip players than one probowler in most cases. He believes the Team would be stronger, and more resilient, able to overcome an injury, too. And that is the way to handle the Cap.

    Brady, Moss, Seymour, for sure.

    Perhaps Mankins, Wilfork, Bruschi, Harrison.

Longer shots would be Vrabel, Mayo, Light.

    Did I miss anyone?

seriously? Seymour isnt for sure, Mankins and Wilfork are still relatively too young, and Mayo is a rookie

I'm sure he's counting himself as one of those future HOFers. Lay off the crackpipe man. The only lock for HOF on that roster is Brett Favre. And he's only been with the Jets for half a season.

Only a green fan would think of touting their "Hall of Famers!!!!" in the face of their Bataan Death March history of 40 years futility. The only team on the net with an entire site devoted to their famous draft busts.

    Hilarity
