I wonder if this type of accountability threshhold would work here? :D

    China Executes Former Food Chief

Tuesday, Jul. 10, 2007 By ASSOCIATED PRESS

(BEIJING) — China executed the former head of its State Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.

Zheng Xiaoyu was sentenced to death in May for taking bribes to approve an antibiotic blamed for at least 10 deaths and other substandard medicines.

The sentence was unusually heavy even for China, believed to carry out more court-ordered executions than all other nations combined. It was an indication of the leadership's determination to confront the country's dire product safety record.

Zheng's execution follows an earlier announcement on Tuesday from Beijing that its food and drug safety procedures were not satisfactory and vowed to improve them.

Without debating the morality of it, I'd say, "It's worth a shot!" :D :D

We don't execute the wealthy or well connected; otherwise, many of the CEOs of tobacco companies would have been executed for murder quite a few years ago.

Do we conclude that you would feel better if we did?

No, I don't support the death penalty, but one reason for that is that it is not applied equally.

I think the media is completely overblowing this food stuff. You can bet this media coverage is all tied to economics, our huge trade imbalance, and declining power in relation to China. It's totally slanted.

Why don't people get scared over Mexico, India, and Denmark, which all had more rejected food imports than China did this year?

Better watch out if you see a label for Mexican-grown tomatoe...

True, cuz if we did the people at Planned Parenthood and the doctor at your local abortion clinic would be in that line too. ;)

Maybe it's cuz so little has been tested from China, and the explosion in trade has increased rapidly over the last decade. Most of the products we've recieved from China weren't edible as they are now.

Not to mention all of those people who force others to breath their second hand smoke and all of our soldiers too.
