the day Boy King announced this guy would be his running mate way back when, i remember so many people cringed... i never fully understood at the time how right they could possibly be...

State Dept. officials ‘furious’ at Cheney hawkishness.

    The New York Times reports:

Ms. Rice’s assurance came as senior officials at the State Department were expressing fury over reports that members of Vice President Dick Cheney’s staff have told others that Mr. Cheney believes the diplomatic track with Iran is pointless, and is looking for ways to persuade Mr. Bush to confront Iran militarily. […]

The reports about hawkish statements by members of Mr. Cheney’s staff first surfaced last week in The Washington Note, an influential blog put out by Steve Clemons of the left-leaning New America Foundation. The reports have alarmed European diplomats, some of whom fear that the struggle over Iran’s nuclear program may evolve into a decision by the Bush administration to resort to force against Iran.

In interviews, people who have spoken with Mr. Cheney’s staff have confirmed the broad outlines of the reports, and said that some of the hawkish statements to outsiders had been made by David Wurmser, a former Pentagon official who is now the principal deputy assistant to Mr. Cheney for national security affairs.

Last year I posted a story from RS, that talked of this adm's plans to go into Iran and everyone threw out the story because it was from RS.. yesterday I posted something about how George is creating a situation that who ever the next president will never get out of... there are a lot of signs going on here, going into Iran is a huge mistake probably greater than Iraq.

A few blocks off Pennsylvania Avenue, the FBI's eight-story Washington field office exudes all the charm of a maximum-security prison. Its curved roof is made of thick stainless steel, the bottom three floors are wrapped in granite and limestone, hydraulic bollards protect the ramp to the four-floor garage, and bulletproof security booths guard the entrance to the narrow lobby. On the fourth floor, like a tomb within a tomb, lies the most secret room in the $100 million concrete fortress—out-of-bounds even for special agents without an escort. Here, in the Language Services Section, hundreds of linguists in padded earphones sit elbow-to-elbow in long rows, tapping computer keyboards as they eavesdrop on the phone lines of foreign embassies and other high-priority targets in the nation's capital.

At the far end of that room, on the morning of February 12th, 2003, a small group of eavesdroppers were listening intently for evidence of a treacherous crime. At the very moment that American forces were massing for an invasion of Iraq, there were indications that a rogue group of senior Pentagon officials were already conspiring to push the United States into another war—this time with Iran.

If you get a chance, watch Iran: The Next Iraq on History channel.

The most interesting tidbit? A couple of years ago a journalist/pollster in Iran found around 75% approval for pro-western values and he was in turn incarcerated.

Its a shame we have sickos like Cheney and Ahmanajihad with so much power.

If anybody in this administration even ramps up a single bullet aimed at Iran, I will support impeachment proceedings against Cheney. Israel must have video tapes of him.
