Boston Globe Sports Columnists' Son Arrested After Assaulting Police - The Hub - SB Nation Boston

Samuel William Shaughnessy, the 24-year-old son of Boston Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy, was arrested and charged with assaulting Brookline police officers during his arrest, according to a Wicked Local report.

Samuel William Shaughnessy, 24, of 58 Elmhurst Road, Newton, was arrested on Dec. 9, at 11:57 a.m., at 473 Harvard St., and charged with being a disorderly person, assault and battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest. (via Brookline TAB)

Police said that the younger Shaughnessy approached officers while they were arresting someone else and began yelling at them. He seemed drunk, according to police, and had bloody knuckles and a "sever abrasion" on his left leg. The officers attempted to arrest Shaughnessy and take him to the hospital, but
