This is what peissed me off about Felger and Mazz this week. They along with Jermaine Wiggins talked about the Eagles figuring out how to block him because he didn't apply pressure on Vick when if you watched Jones it looked pretty clear that he was playing a contain role and not a pass rush role. If you watch the tape, he delays his rush to diagnose whether Vick was taking off then either rushed or contained.

Wilfork didn't play. Love looked dominant. There's only so many guys you can double team. If Jones is already becoming someone opposing defenses have to scheme around, it will open up a lot of options for other guys.

You're 100% right. And after Foles replace Vick, there was one 3rd and long play where Jones clearly fired off the snap looking only to pass rush and he easily blew past Dunlap and got the QB hit.

He was actually getting excellent pressure on the injury sack. Love collapses pocket, Vick looks to his left for escape and see's Jones beating his tackle, Vick get's blind sided by a mac truck.

    Disable Jersey

They talked about Jones looking less impressive being at least in part to having a different role because of Vick being both left handed and Michael Vick.

I don't think they realized that because they talked about Dunlap as if he was a typical LT in charge of protecting the QB's blindside. They didn't say it specifically, but they did talk about the significance of going up against a left tackle as if, like in most offenses, the left tackle is usually much better than the right tackle.

I said in other threads, for a guy who played in the NFL for nearly a decade, Jermaine Wiggins knows absolutely nothing about football.

You expect Mazz to figure that out?

I'm convinced that Rob is a masochist. Can't for the life of me understand how someone could, week after week, be so tormented by Felger and Mazz yet still continue to tune in.

That's a good thing to remember. The interior is just rock solid and there is going to be a need to double up more than one guy.

We do have some players. It's not like last year.

They usually aren't that bad and better than listen to the alternatives. It is these moments that make me wonder if they ever watched football though.

During the season it is either these guys, the pompous Big O, or Sirius NFL radio where they might spend 10 minutes total talking about the Pats in an afternoon block.

Besides, I actually enjoy their show for the most part (at least compared to other shows locally). But why complain about the parts you actually like.

Yeah, it does suck when you feel like you have to suffer through something because the alternatives are even worse. Patsfans is the only place that I can come where it's all NE all the time. Reiss is my media on them. Colin Cowherd loves the Pats, but he obviously can't dedicate a whole show to them.

I like Felger & Maz, I don't agree with everything either says, it'd be boring listening if I did. This may not apply to you but some of forum members who claim not to listen actually do.:D The Jones/containment observation by Rob is spot on- he should've called F&M and schooled 'em.

Btw what is your alternative if you like to hear sports talk on the commute home? The Big Zero?

Felger and Mazz are not to be taken seriously. They seldom, if ever, do appropriate research in order to provide knowledgeable analysis. They're entertaining, sort of, especially when compared to their competition. They are all about ratings, and controversy. A listener is not going to derive a learned foundation by listening to Felger and Mazz. They're an exercise in laughter for me on a regular basis, that is all.....

Hopefully Jones-Wilfork-Love-Ninkovich can be the line we thought Carter-Wilfork-Haynesworth-Ellis would be.

I'd consider Football Felger and Mazz's least knowledgeable sport. They can talk the heck out of Hockey, Baseball & Basketball but when it comes to Football I think they are pretty clueless. That's why they have to bring in people like Perillo and Gasper for segments.

Jones was playing when Love broke through and Vick had to take off. Now normally Vick's first two instincts is to run up the middle or to the left but guess who was there after fighting off Dunlap, yep Jones. Which made Vick scramble back and to the right and we all know the rest.

That was text book how to defend Vick. Make him run backwards. Yet because Felger and Mazz are clueless with the ins and outs. They just go off of how Jones didn't really have his name called on the TV for making a play.

    A few things:

    - Felger knows football as much or more than most radio show hosts in this town. He just plays the contrarian role a lot.
    - I thought about calling, but I don't have the time to sit on the telephone for an hour for them to maybe pick up. I did text them the fact that Vick was a left handed mobile QB and Jones' role was to contain. They didn't acknowledge it though.
    - I actually like Felger. Don't like Mazz. Wiggy makes my stomach turn because he is so stupid.
