Chad Johnson says being 'controlled' by the Patriots led to his failure here

So now I see...it isn't the fact that he is aging quickly and is no longer a top player....it isn't the fact that he could rarely find seperation with his defender,it isn't the fact that he couldn't run the right routes....

Ladies and gentlemen...the REAL reason why Chad was a failure was because the Patriots asked him to tone down his clown act for the season and not cause a media craze. What a joke!

Did he come out and directly blame the Pats?...no,but if you can't read between the lines.....

Chad Johnson Predicts 'Monster Year,' Says His Personality Was 'Controlled' With Patriots - Miami Dolphins - NESN.com

I'll grant him that when people are forced to be someone they aren't it can adversely affect them.

That being said - he couldn't learn the (admittedly somewhat complicated) offense and didn't even seem to have the speed or ability to get open on a straight sideline route.

It's tough to blame that on Belichick "not letting him be him"

When they signed Chad I was less than hopeful as I didn't think he showed he had much in the tank in 2010.

I wanted to be wrong. Unfortunately I was right.

I was the opposite and paid for it dearly. I was SO excited when I got the news because I, unlike you, thought he had plenty left and would fill a good role in the offense. I didn't know he was a complete idiot, though.

Chad Jackson is still around?

previous...

Only kidding. they were both worthless as receivers, but at least Jackson did one funny thing here, if the story about him blurting out the blazing saddles line at a charity reception full of very rich people was true.

Attention whores are more sad than funny, to me at least.

The reason that he didn't work here is that he simply couldn't unlearn a decade of training to fit an adjustment route game. The reasons behind it no one knows but I think he put an abnormal level of pressure on himself to perform for the pats. Ocho is emotional, hasn't learned to pull it and use it as a check yet, and that can mess people up.

Peope leaving a situation they failed in often find ways of validating those failures by inventing a reason. If that helps him perform better then all the more power to him, but it really is kind of sad to see. I always appreciated his game and his ability to entertain. I'm a pretty happy person and generally root for everyone regardless of laundry so I hope he comes back strong.

I wanted him to succeed here, but after that, f**k off!

I think his problem was, he wasn't good enough! If you can't perform when you can't run your mouth off, something isn't right!

That's what it was!?!? For the life of me I couldn't figure out why he couldn't grasp this offense and sucked donkey balls especially when he was paired with one of the greatest QB's of all time. It was the Patriots organization's fault this whole time. Makes perfect sense.

Don't forget to add that he was as dumb as a rock too.

I apologize for insulting smart rocks if there are any reading this.

Chads in Florida -- never a good thing

yeah...I don't think I like the sound of "hanging chad"...the Urban dictionary has few entries...#2 sounds like a direct hit...

2. Hanging Chad

A bowel movement with the consistency of clay that clings to the side of one's crack.

Ron's failure to properly clear that Hanging Chad led to chaffing, an offensive odor, buzzing flies, and eventual abandonment.

eerily reminiscent ...

Chads in Florida -- never a good thing

While he is in Florida I would suggest instead to apply for a job of training Dolphins at Seaworld as a better job for him than playing for the Dolphins.

Chad is a free lancing wr which requires a different type of offense. I'm sure he will have a few good games in Florida and it will make small headlines that Chad had his wings clipped while he was here. But the end result for the average football mind will be he was undisciplined and couldn't handle Patriot type routes and their style of situational football.

For any Patriot fan including myself who was excited to have him aboard should now realize the importance of football smarts and route running from here on out. It was easy to like his rambunctious personality and antics that were very funny to most fans. But in the end the biggest question is can he play in the Patriots system? Clearly Bill went out on a limb on this one and I think the fan base supported it 80%. I think most Patriot fans should be smarter for the experiment that was Ochocinco and what defines a Patriots Wr.

This may be his honest assessment of the situation. He probably didn't fit in, and for someone like him that may have impact his performance.

Chad may be right. I don't think there's any reason to go off on him because he can't perform "the Patriots way." Obviously, he also wants to continue his career elsewhere, rather than just go to the broadcast booth or the slimfast commercials or dancing with the stars. He sure doesn't want to go out there and say "well they had a real complicated playbook." But hey, not everybody does, right? So he can play for another team with more of a "um, 85, get open or something" offensive philosophy.

I won't be bitter, or surprised, if he does become a productive player again now that he's out of NE.

You are sure he will have a few good games? As in certain? New system, mediocre or rookie QB, no star receiver to draw the coverage away in Miami. Everything is a step backwards for Chad. If he were any good at all, he would have had a breakout year last year.

Brady threw for over 5,000 yards. 5-0-0-0 yards. You'd think Ochocinco would have accounted for what, at least 600 to 700 of those? We're talking maybe 40 yards per game, here. What did he do? 15 catches for 276 yards.

Program your DVD right now. Chad Ochocinco will get cut during the last episode of Hard Knocks. It will be a real tear-jerker.

Basically MOTS so not worth another thread...

Chad Johnson is definitely back.

After a year of having his personality stifled in New England, in which Johnson earned just 15 catches and a spot on the bench, Johnson is back to his trash-talking, fun-loving ways. He showed up to his first press conference of training camp on Wednesday sporting black nail polish, dropped a ton of “F-bombs,” teetered back and forth between humble and arrogant, said he smoked weed with Gene Simmons this summer, wants to bring the rookie receivers to a popular strip club and is considering a second career in pornography.

In short, he was Chad Johnson.

“It feels good to be able to breathe again,” he said. “What you’re seeing now, what you’re hearing, that’s always been me, keeping everybody loose. But when it’s time to play, I always show up.”

The man may not still be the talent that earned him six Pro Bowl trips in 10 seasons with Cincinnati, but Johnson can certainly still light up a room. Here are the highlights from Johnson’s press conference:

If he always showed up he'd still be in Cincy...

With Hartline still sidelined he will likely make the roster. But what they can expect out of the passing game period with 3 guys splitting first team reps will remain to be seen.

I've been trying to check in on their camp reports but compared to what we get there is little detail. However this was from their 5th practice this AM...

Other news and notes:

– Matt Moore is once again working with the first team, with David Garrard also getting reps. Ryan Tannehill is with the backups, but is wearing pads for the first time.

– Quarterbacks now throwing to each other to practice angles on slant patterns. Both Moore and David Garrard make nice catches on throws from Tannehill.

– WR Clyde Gates is also working again on the side with Hartline. These are valuable workouts to miss for a guy whose position is as tenuous as Gates’, but injured is injured.

– Johnson has a pass go right through his hands down the right sideline with no coverage.

– Roberto Wallace caught a long bomb down the right sideline from Matt Moore.

– Safety Anderson Russell picked off a pass from Moore as Charles Clay apparently ran the wrong route.

– Daniel Thomas breaks off a nice 8-yard run against the first defense.

– Depending on the ruling, Jeff Fuller either had a drop or a fumble on what should have been an easy completion.

Give him a break, he's got new nail polish. Probably still wet.

I'm a fan of Chad Johnson the person and entertainer but Chad Johnson the player never showed up to play for the Patriots. That's a redundant comment if ever I read one.

I still like him. He couldn't cut it with the Pats and is still trying to maintain his brand, nothing to see here.
