I forget, why do we have an embargo with Cuba? Not that it stops U.S. citizens from going there. Oh yea, Castro's a dictator, imprisons people who oppose his policies, not unlike China. Communicating with Cuba would upset many of our Latin population, and you know how much we care about that.

Really? Good... what was he trying to say then? Because fascist communist seems like a contradiction in terms. This should be good.

They are essentially mirror images of each other: both are totalitarian dictatorships where absolutely NO disagreement is allowed; such is considered treason and punishable by death or exile.

The only difference is in the world view: fascism has been localized to the national level (Nazi Germany, Mussolini's Italy, Franco's Spain, etc.), while the communist world-view is global; may start in one nation but it seeks to expand as rapidly as possible to all other nations until it dominates the entire earth; the Soviet Union being the most obvious example, yet China has shown similar tendencies in Tibet, and other places.

    Now you know.

Always wondered about the embargo thing, does anyone think that Castro or another dictator goes without?? Does his inner circle go without anything?? In reality those who suffer are the women and children.... this embargo thing does little to Castro and folks like him.

It is interesting that some companies already have a foothold..

The embargo on Cuba is old and stupid. It serves little purpose except to justify the actions of past leaders. Cuba is no model of openness and freedom but they are not the worst either. Our relations with them should be as open as possible ... especially in trade.

tell that to the people who have had everything taken away from them by castro......I'm not talking buisnesses, I'm talking individuals who had people walk into their homes and were told to leave, that none of this belongs to them.......and then on the way out, take a slug in the back of the head

of course that didn't happen to you, so why should you care?

castro killed indiscriminately just like hitler did.......the jewish defense league hasn't gotten over it, why should cubans?

You make a valid point, but the problem is with the way the US Govt treats Cuba compared to everyone else in the world. I could get on a plane tomorrow and fly to Burma, Saudi Arabia, China, Egypt, Khazakstan, Las Vegas,,,any number of places where the government is more corrupt and cruel than Cuba. Why Cuba? It's partly old fears imbedded in the minds of the Cold Warriors and older Cuban-Americans hanging onto a vestige (sp?) of their meaning in life.

It's also the proximity of Cuba to Miami. Cuba represents the opposite economic philosophy and a threat to the plans of the ultra-capitalists who control Miami and Florida. The same people who run Florida and Miami are the ones who want first dibs on the new casinos and resorts that will be built once the Marxists die off and the capitalists gain control over Cuba. You would think they would want things like the economic embargo's lifted. Castro wouldn't have survived past the 1980's if Americans were traveling to and from Cuba and "poisoning the minds" of the Cuban people with their ideas of capitalism like Flock of Seagulls, cocain and bad hairstyles.

Exactly, I just can't understand America's "Loony Left" they are always bleating and whailing about freedom, civil liberties, kindness and love, then they turn on America the country that gives them all these things and support these scummy Little Third World Dictators.

    Dear Loons,
Did you ever wonder why so many Cubans paddled over to Florida hanging onto inner tubes.

Do Cuban Police say "you have the right to remain silent"...:singing:

Why do Movie Stars adore Chavez/Castro............

because cuba is right next door........because everyone who got screwed by castro is here..........because a fair number of americans got screwed right along with the cubans.........because castro tried to put in place the things that could have destroyed the entire USA

castro was literally a bin laden for that time

I'd keep my foot on that head until any and all remnants were dissolved

so is this right or wrong?

you can look at it both ways.........I mean if you're a card carrying liberal, how could you have allowed this to happen? its basically business for business sake.....sure its food, but if it weren't solely for the profit, they would not be there.......if you are a card carrying conservative, how could you do business with a communist?

personally, I like the way things were........simply because a normalization of relations with cube will probably only succeed in sending a few million more american jobs out of this country
