From a very interesting source, the Washington Times made allegations that terrorists were linking up with Mexican Illegals to take over Fort Huachua.. but apparently after trying to create the hysteria, the FBI comes out and says "there is no evidence that that threat was credible".. the Washington Times, like all the rest of the lemmings, just follows weak leads and tries to create hysteria.

    http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/

UPDATE II: The Washington Times should try doing a little better at vetting these stories:

A plot by dozens of foreign terrorists who purportedly planned to attack Fort Huachuca with rocket propelled grenades and mines has proved unfounded, an FBI spokesman said Monday.
The threat, detailed by a local television station and The Washington Times after information was recently leaked to them, involved Iraqi and Afghan terrorists working with a Mexican drug cartel to smuggle themselves and weapons across the U.S. border. ...

The attack never occurred and was the result of bad information, said Manuel Johnson, an FBI spokesman based in Phoenix.

“A thorough investigation was conducted and there is no evidence showing that the threat was credible,” he said.

Al qaeda and Aztlan are real, and your burying your head in the sand while ranting and raving in denial over it isn't so doesn't change the facts one bit. Only gives the would be assassins aid and comfort.

Ah, the luxury of not being responsible, and the patheticism of not even trying.

Wait, I don't get it here Fogbuster, there was no threat here, this was yet another example of what a failure the media has become, not a case of a real plot being ignored.

Depends on what you call a "threat". If the Twin Towers didn't do it, if the two U.S. embassies in Africa didn't do it, if the USS Cole didn't do it, if the first attack on the Twin Towers didn't do it, then what WILL it take to constitute a threat in your book??

And if you don't know about the "Aztlan movement", do some research. It is the "indigenous American Indian people" who want to "take back America" for the "rightful owners". Kind of like Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, and Che Gueverra all on the same team. Just because their chances of succeeding are slim to none doesn't mean they wouldn't shoot Air Force One out of the sky if they had the chance. And that wouldn't be pretty, even if a Dem were the president.

Once again you ignore facts and information presented and refuted in the Washington Times article, so much so you go on a tangent discussing issues not pertinent to the article. It is about media presentation, not about other issues.. but that is your modus operandi.. instead of discussing or answering a question divert the attention from your beloved moonie newspaper, the Washington Times and defend it all cost, even if you sound like a fool, Daddie Moon would be proud of you.

Both groups are threats to US security, of course, but this particular story is about an IMAGINED threat, one brought forth by irresponsible reporting (seems to be the only kind around nowadays). I'm probably the last one that needs a talking to about protecting our interests, I'm very much in favor of the policy of preemption. I just think we might need a little more than a bogus story to go ahead and invade Mexico.

Real or imagined, with the level of ignorance being perpetrated by America's "education system" (sic), these kinds of warnings are necessary, even if not "at the gates today" facts of life.

Personally, I hope we can avoid any more pre-emptive strikes. We've seen the backlash such produces. I'd much rather see more general investment of personal time and resources by Americans in the lives of other peoples abroad, including in Mexico. Most Americans' knowledge about Mexico comes from Taco Bell.

You know what is sillier, that this whole thread started with a right wing blog debunking hysteria created by the Washington Times, in you haste you see Washington Times discredited.. and you get on your soapbox and attempt to give us some blessings instead of critically looking at the argument. You go on your atypical rants, raves and conspiracy theories instead of looking at this faux pas. The reality is that the Wa times created some hysteria and misreported something, but that points to the crux of the issue is that you are a brainwashed lemming, who reacts and defends the Washington Times (aka the moonie press) and never look at the misreporting of this pub. But you will be the first to criticize the NYT, Wapost etc. Find it hard to believe that you, who are supposed to be a learned, discerning man.. do not get this.

Don't come back with the light or your god is better than mine, read the article before you give a knee jerk response. Father moon and the rest of the cultists are proud of you, but most of us see right through you.
