Sen. James M. Inhofe (R-Okla.) blocked the effort, saying it would make drilling too expensive for smaller companies. "Big Oil would love to have these caps there so they can shut out all the independents," he said, echoing the argument of Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), who halted an identical move last week.

Why is it that Most conservatives scream "FREE MARKET" and want unlimited capitalism, and unlimited profits.....but when the $#!t hits the fan, they want limits on liability?

If you are a free market capitalist, you should also have to deal with the downside to such unlimited regulation and profits.

Because limits on liability preserve the unlimited profits...

    Everybody repeat after me:

    The risks are socialized.

    The profits are privatized.

BTW, scream "socialist" at anybody who wants to hold you accountable.
