Would like to see what people think. If they keep that D. And lynch and wilson..they can be good for a while. They are clearly the class of the NFC and probably will be for a few years

geez .. they haven't even landed back in Seattle ..

No, because when Russell's pay day comes up, that will be the end of Seattle's vaunted defense. We are the closest thing to a dynasty and we don't win championships--any more.

Also, I wonder about Russell over the long haul.

All it takes is one of their top players being charged with multiple homicides, several of their top defensive/offensive players being injured, and the notion of a "dynasty" goes down the drain.

Simply put, no.

Lynch turns 28 in April and he has a lot of miles on his wheels over his career having carried 1757 times in 7 NFL seasons.

Russell Wilson was not playing well leading up to last night, over his previous 6 games against all NFC teams he had a combined 1003 yards (167 PPG), 5 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. I really like Wilson but some people were speculating that teams had a book on him now in the NFC.

Barring injuries, the Seahawks are by far the best team in the NFL to start the 2014 season. They will resign Bennett and cut Rice for cap space. Who are they going to lose this offseason, Golden Tate?

Wilson will make Harvin, Baldwin, Kearse work. Beastmode is beastmode. If they upgrade their guards and TE their offense will be better than last year. So yes, they can become a dynasty.

Oh yeah, Russell Wilson is a stud, so that helps. He's had the best first two years of any QB in NFL history.

They can be good for a while, but no, no dynasty. They will have a lot of big-time checks to make soon, and they were incredibly healthy this year. The odds of that good fortune happening again are slim. It would require some major luck.

Stifling the highest scoring offense in history....the Seahawks are already knocking at the Pantheon door occupied by the '85 Bears.
Dynasty....probably not. The NFC West is an iron cage death match for survival and the interdivisional beatings SF, Seattle, and Arizona will have to endure may prevent repeats.
But....it is easy to see how a team hardened by fierce interdivisional competion can be dominant vs. the rest of the NFL. Can't really pound the table and say the AFC East is toughing up our boys for the main events

Why can't they? Will they is another question. That remains to be seen. But not sure how anyone could say they can't. After all, they're young and still probably going to get better. Also, Russell Wilson is still in the middle of his rookie deal so he'll most likely keep them with some economical cap numbers at the qb position for another couple years allowing them to pay some of their defensive players.

We'll see once they need to pay all those guys.

They definitely could, but I voted "no."

-Carrol is an older coach - would have to assume he'll stay on for some time at a high level and that they'd have another competent coach come in and not miss a beat.

-Having a good/great QB does not guarantee that you're dynasty bound - see Drew Brees and many others.

-Maybe they can pay Sherman and Wilson. After that, who can fit under their cap? They're in a nice little window right now with guys on their rookie contracts at low cost, so good on them to bring home the trophy.

-Target on the back / Monkey-see-monkey-do / Rule Changes? Teams will adjust to do things in a more Seattle-centric way - they probably already have over the last 2 seasons. Staying ahead of this curve asks for great coaching and team management, so see the first bullet again. Also, Manning just got shown up badly - which we've seen pretty much directly result in new rules about DB contact.

-Injuries / Bad luck / all other daily realities of how the fate of NFL seasons is decided. They've been awfully close to a PED scandal, which could unravel the hell out of a season if it blew wide open.

How many of the key pieces are under the low rent rookie deals of late? The life cycle of CBs in the NFL of late tends to be pretty short, so who comes in and does what these guys are doing right now? It will be very difficult to sustain success when non-rookie deals hit, and I expect this team will not resemble itself in two years. Such is the NFL.

The question is whether the Hawks can really draft or is this group a combination of luck and insider information. If they do not continue to pick winners, then the Hawks are done. One more year on those rookie deals, and then we see what type of organization this is. Sustained dominance means dynasty. We are on year one.

The seahawks and the 49rs benefit from having QB's who are on rookie contracts...so they can afford to spend money in other areas on the roster.

Kaepernick made 700K$ last year and Russell Wilson 500K$

problem is, once Russell Wilson/Kaepernick are due for contracts their cap hit will from from 500K and 700K to most likely 12million$+

at that point they are going to have to let go alot of those key defensive(and offensive pieces) in order to work with the cap

Seattle is an undisciplined team, they will implode.

A lot will depend on their ability to retain their core players while continuing to fill in with good drafts and free agency pick ups. Their division is not getting any easier and will likely be the best one for years to come as they are all built very similarly emphasizing a defense first approach.

Yeah, unlike the Patriots who were paying a bunch of older veterans at the time and still had Brady on his rookie deal, just about all the key Seahawks are playing on rookie deals. When their paydays come, they will not be able to afford to keep them nor will they be able to sign expensive veteran free agents like they have recently. Nor will it be okay to trade draft picks to get guys like Harvin (who they then signed to a new deal, I think?).

Competitive team going deep in the playoffs the next few years-yes. Multiple SB victory dynasty-no.

Not voting. Ask me in 3years

the reason seattle is so good right now is they really hit it huge with some draft picks which allowed for spending tons of money on key players.

Seattle has 3 more years max before things start to fall apart, maybe less. sherman is going to command 10+ million a year, the other CB's are going to be coming off rookie deals, Wilson is going to get a 20+ million dollar contract.

Harvins contract is still pretty large, Lynch is going to be gone soon and turbin isnt the same runner.

The defensive line and line backers are going to start showing their age, and the ones young enough for contracts are going to get paid.

Their success is going to be their own downfall, its nearly impossible to be a top contender for more then a couple of years without some down time, as the ravens are finding out, and as teams like sf seattle and denver are about to.

They could...

Except for the fact that the patriots team over the next 3 years is going to be better than the pats of last year...

So it's not Seattle that will have the next bunch of Superbowls, it is us
