ill bet 80M he never gets 80M

the SB is the most important thing; next, the first 3 years pay...
the pay in the 8th year doesnt matter; he will never see it

just to complement you on your signature (below):

"If you didn't know better, you'd think the Jets sent Bill Belichick north
to destroy the Patriots from within. (When) they could have had
impact players David Terrell or Koren Robinson or the second-best tackle in
the draft in Kenyatta Walker, they took Georgia defensive tackle Richard
Seymour, (who is) too tall to play tackle at 6-6 and too slow to play defensive end." - Toadie Borges, April 2001

This doesn't do much for Asante's peace of mind. It does indicate $1.3mil for Blue isn't out of line.

Fine, but with a $22M bonus, the middle years of that contract are pretty well covered.

I'll bet that the average over the first five years is closer to $8M, with the last three years being designed to pump up the value of the contract (to be the highest ever signed by a defensive player).

Actually, it was the Falcons paying 18 million for Ovie Mughelli. Mughelli is a very good FB. Not worth 3 mill a year.

Sorry, but it wasn't a $22 million signing bonus unless its been published somewhere. It was $22 million guaranteed. There is a huge difference.

The Clements deal is supposably backloaded in the last two years which he will never see. According to PFT, it is a deal wirth $7.25 million a year.

It will be very interesting to find out if Clements got a signing bonus or if the 49ers guaranteed a certain amount of salary.
