Okay, if it's a 26-year-old video assistant, this whole story falls to sh*t. There is no way this kid knows how to decipher and break down a professional NFL defensive coordinator's signal calls, nor would they trust a kid that age with something like that.

He doesn't need to know how to break them down. He just needs to film them for someone who does.

But he's been accused of signaling during the game.

Whats the rule............ You cannot film the PERIOD, or you cannot film them for IN-GAME use. Two seperate issues.

This is silly. If the kid isn't either signaling or talking with the OC in the booth, this is a non-issue. There are only so much things that you can do at halftime.

Disguise your signals better Mangini. This is the game. Advantage: Patriots, again.

According to what I've read, you can't film them at all.

You can't film during the game. However, if you do happen to film during the game, there's nothing wrong with taking the film and breaking it down in order to use the signals to steal the other team's gameplan. That's ok. But pressing "record" on your camera is not ok.

The rule is that you can not film during the game PERIOD whether or not its for in game use or future use.

Then this is even more ridiculous than I imagined. The only value I see in this is that they could glean something for the next time they play the Jets.

seems like maybe bill wants to make a point...to get caught so this video cheating gets exposed and they put more strict rules. he knows he is the best...so if there is no cheating he will shine even more. because as the rules are now, cheating is allowed as long as you dont get caught....a possible explanation.

Wow...I must be really slow. How in God's name does a guy holding that big of a camera (of which he needs to hold on his shoulder) relay signals? Does he use his tongue, legs, what?

    This story stinks...

I think they should punish the Jets as well as whomever spoke for the Lions and Packers for spreading rumors and innuendos. After all, that is the job of the media.

Is the "they" is this sentence referring to the same "they" that named a 28 year old offensive co-ordinator?

excellent point P. I totally agree. If the Pats are not guilty, which evidently half the football world thinks they are, then the Jets and whoever else brought this focus on NE should definitely pay a price.

For what it's worth, NE and their dynasty will probably be called into question from this point forward, thanks to this incident. That deserves a pretty hefty penalty against the Jets (and whatever other team played a part in this).
