California is $14 billion in the hole. So while 22,000 inmates get early release, government services are slashed, and every department faces a 10% across the board cut, illegals will still get their welfare in LA County. How about evicting these criminals who have no right to be here, and helping actual American citizens out? That's $1 billion right there, for one county.

Illegal Aliens Receive $37 Million From County In November

Welfare and food stamp benefits soar $3 million higher than September payout.

New statistics from the Department of Public Social Services reveal that illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected over $37 million in welfare and food stamp allocations in November 2007 – up $3 million dollars from September, announced Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

Twenty five percent of the all welfare and food stamps benefits is going directly to the children of illegal aliens. Illegals collected over $20 million in welfare assistance for November 2007 and over $16 million in monthly food stamp allocations for a projected annual cost of $444 million.

“This new information shows an alarming increase in the devastating impact Illegal immigration continues to have on Los Angeles County taxpayers,” said Antonovich. “With $220 million for public safety, $400 million for healthcare, and $444 million in welfare allocations, the total cost for illegal immigrants to County taxpayers far exceeds $1 billion a year – not including the millions of dollars for education.”

I'd say CA would be better off electing a Democratic governor. Republicans just don't know how to handle money.

Kalifornia is a welfare state. It'll never get ahead of it's obligations. You should know since you live in another welfare state on the other side of the country. At any rate, that reply sure speaks to the drain that illegals are in that state.

You posted something about the drain of illegal aliens, but didn't post anything about how much they pump into the economy. The economics of illegal immigration is far more complex than what you posted.

Yeah, I bet they pay in as much as they suck out. Afterall, everyone who earns less than $20k a year, even $30k a year, pay in more than they suck out. Two words pal, Red Ink.

Well they sure contribute to local bars, alcohol distributors and bail bondsmen... so that provides a tremendous benefit to the economy... and don't forget the DUI lawyers....

Has there been a rigorous analysis of this? Its an interesting point. With so many that would be glad to come here legally and take the illegals' places I don't think its an argument for amnesty though. In other words, that positive economic impact lost by booting illegals would be replaced by the legal immigrants that came to take their place.

Well since the top 5% of taxpayers contribute over 50% to the taxes collected I find it unlikly that illegals are in the top 10% of earners who produce the vast majority of tax revenues.
