Not to mention that the Senate has been a little...lax...in confirming people when they're supposed to.

Well clearly they know his term is coming to an end and it's best not to be in the spotlight when the prosecutions come.
The 200 people waiting to be confirmed are trying to avoid the spotlight how, exactly?

Would he have a lawyer present? Will you be certain of his guilt? And, when he confesses, will you be certain he didn't do so under duress?
I did not think this was an issue anymore...
No lawyer. Don't care if he's "guilty" and I don't plan to ask any questions, so there'll be nothing for him to confess. Recreational waterboarding!
