Relax everyone! Go shopping! Everything is gonna be fine now. Bush gives up golfing because of Iraq war ... In a new interview with the Politico today, President Bush says that he has given up golf because of the Iraq war, to show ‚Äúsolidarity‚ÄĚ with U.S. troops and their families. He added that ‚Äúplaying golf during a war just sends the wrong signal‚ÄĚ: Q Mr. President, you haven‚Äôt been golfing in recent years. Is that related to Iraq? THE PRESIDENT: Yes, it really is. I don‚Äôt want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the Commander-in-Chief playing golf. I feel I owe it to the families to be as ‚ÄĒ to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal. Update: Cernig writes, "You go to war with the handicap you have‚Ķ" Brandon Friedman adds, "In today's world, sacrifice is defined in terms of not being able to afford a Hummer; of having to see a few images of war on TV; and of giving up golf."
