Maz: "Patriots coach Bill Belichick gives Christmas gifts and holiday cards to some members of the media, cyanide-tipped glares to others. You’re either a Belichicklet or you are not, and there is no base-level membership.

If you’re going to buy in, you have to sell out.

    Thanks but no thanks."

BSM: Right. Tony’s not going to sell out. I said Tony’s not going to sell out. Really. He’s above all of that material bullsh*t. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/03...mp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0312366337 He would never allow his personal and professional relationships to collide or get involved with a subject he covers http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/03...mp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0312385676 . Never.

Whoops. I guess it really is a material world and Tony is a material girl.

That one is a classic. I will never knowingly click on another Herald link until at the very least the sports editor is suspended or fired.

I love the part where Bruce Allen sticks the dagger in with "....and Tony is a material girl".

In fact, that could turn into Tony Masserotti's new nickname! The Material Girl!

I read the Big Papi book. It's basically a transcription of Maz's taped interviews with Big Papi with some stats/facts thrown in by Maz to complete the thoughts. It's hilarious. A typical line in that book goes something like:

"Look bro, I finally came out of my 3-for-32 slump and a .145 slugging percentage with a three game set vs. Oakland where I went 9-for-12 with 3 doubles and 2 home runs. I think the attendance for that series was 99,487. Bro, let me tell you how glad I was to be hitting the ball like my old self."

    Not exactly award-winning stuff.

    Regards,
    Chris

Maybe he's sensitive about the "bloggers" because, increasingly, they are taking his audience and rendering him obsolete?
