would like some feedback here. the guy had a hole in his heart and a stroke. is it worth coming back to play???? whats he got to prove??? is it worth risking his life for??? I know how much you fans think of him him. I say if hes financially set pack it in. just not worth the risk. plus this CAN come back to haunt him later in life. I know his father in law tried to talk him out of it but im surprised his wife went along with it. ?????

His doctors cleared him.He isnt risking his life.If he felt like he was,he wouldnt be playing.

The guy lives for football. If he wouldnt have come back, he would have spent the rest of his life wondering "what if".

I was concerned about Tedy's safety on the field when he came back. We all were. When I heard him say, in such a heartfelt way, that football is his job, his life, I decided that he knows what he's doing, and, sounds like, he doesn't want to live without football, at least not yet. He has my blessing, FWIW.

Well, let's revisit this again for the 1,000,000,000,000 time. And, lets do it on a day when we have an important playoff game.

Ten of the best specialists in the country unanimously cleared him to play.

The only hurdle at that point was psychological.

Brushci has said he went to as many doctors as he could find trying to find one who said he shouldnt play. None did.

I think your impressions of him being in a life threatening situation are just totally wrong. Every doctor found disagrees. Therefore the questions in your post arent relevant

I've never heard that playing football has ever caused a stroke. I thought I read that it was always a question of him recovering enough from the damage that the stroke inflicted to be able to play. It's pretty obvious he did.

you dont think a stroke is life threatning??? well is is. at any age. I can tell you this. these doctors and specialists and ever kind of "ologist" give him a "risk factor". meaning theres no guarentee. carson palmer's injury started me to thinking bout this.
I know this is a bad time, on game day, to bring it up. but there's no guarentee from ANY doctor.

He is a couple of months late on this thread.......I wonder if he knows it is 2006 yet or that KC did not make the playoffs?

What is your point? Yes a stroke is life threatening.
No Tedy Bruschi playing football is not life threatening.

There is no guarantee you wont have an annuerism explode in your head as you are typing a response. That doesnt mean you should turn your computer off and hide under the covers.

There is no greater risk for a stroke playing football than there is sitting on your couch. A stroke IS life threatening, but playing football doesn't make a stroke more likely. Like others have said, he went to many doctors and it was unanimous that he could return to football.

point taken. but your comparing apples to oranges. ever hear of "risk factors"??? hey i hope as all of you do he has no side effects. I was mearly pointing out the risk he's taking. and i apologize for bring this up now. yeah i know. lousy timing. im just pointing out heart problems carry a certain risk.

I understood it best when he said something to the effect of he was as likely to have another stroke playing with his kids on the living room floor as he is playing football.

I mean really, what do you suggest he do? Buy himself some gum, blow a bubble and live in it?

those around and close to him have voiced their concerns. hopefully this is not a problem now. but i know people who regretted their decesion later in life. im more concerned about his and anybodys future with something like this.
I hope he has a super day today.

One last time.
The stroke was caused when a blood clot passed through a hole in his heart. Many people are born with that condition and nver know it.
They inserted a plug in his heart. That eliminates the risk factor of a stroke caused by the same issue.

Bruschi has been told by a team of doctors, the chance of playing football causing the plug to dislodge is flat out, absolutely, with 100% certainty ZERO.

The chance of Tedy Bruschi suffering another stroke is actual LESS THAN average, because he has eliminated one of the common causes of stroke.

no of course not. but i have seen people have long term side effects from strokes or heart problems. AND THEY DONT PLAY FOOTBALL. I just hope football dosent aggravate it.

From everything I have read, no one identified a cause of the heart attack.....football related or otherwise.

Tedy did not have a heart attack and had lived with those holes in his heart his whole life.

Perhaps we should gently inform KCvet that Willie Roaf's chances for stroke on a football field are 5 times Bruschi's at this point.

thanks for the concern, but this topic has been put to bed. Bru is back and hasnt had any setbacks besides a darn calf strain.
he is getting closer every day to playing to his old form after missing the first half of the season (counting training camp as part of the season).
