Some interesting comments. Favorite Pat of all time is Gino Cappelletti; Junior Seau is the NFL player, past or present, that he looks up to and respects the most - "his intensity and passion are unrivaled by anyone I've ever known"; didn't believe he was the same player his first year back from the stroke due to mental issues; his comment on Mayo ("the kid has a million questions"); and best of all, his knee is fine.
This is great stuff tonight with Tedy and Mike Mayock. They were just discussing coaching genius vs. special talent or intelligent players and Mayock said before you dismiss the genius quotient, understand that Belichick is so smart he'd have been this successful in any industry. As conservative as he is at heart he still thinks outside the box (example given the 2007 offensive remodel...). Eisen said so if he was running AIG...and Tedy answered they wouldn't need no bailout!
Mayock was talking about how the key is they are more prepared than any team. He also talked about versatility saying in cleveland he could play both safety positions without extra reps and all the ST postitions, and that was why Bill valued him - roster flexibility.
Eisen was asking how they get better every week (which Tedy said is the key to success) even when they win. Tedy said Bill finds an area they didn't do well in and that becomes a weeklong focus - to inprove their performance in that area. And he always advises players on how to improve areas of their individual performance.
