I dont think they took a gamble, if they wanted KT they would not waive him, it was very possible someone would take him, he has decent numbers for a rookie free agent even losing a lot of games.

I think BB wanted him to be claimed, a polite way to cut a kind of important player in the middle of that press storm.

Welcome Tyms!
From KT's perspective, Oakland's probably a better place than NE in that he'll have more opportunity to get on the field and show his stuff, such as it is.

The coaching staff must be high on Kline to not have waived him, and the fact that they didn't do a move involving him or Devey also shows that they are still looking for the best combo.

James Jones and Andre Holmes have been pretty good, but with Rod Streater hurt they're pretty bare after that. I suspect he'll get thrown right in, and he should do pretty well.

Oakland hasn't been a good situation for anyone since 2003.

Not that the dude's a stud or anything but, having a guy like Vellano on the practice squad is awesome. Can never have enough depth. Especially depth not on the 53.

There could certainly be some truth in what you're saying.

It may also be that they feel that they may need one or both in case an injury or two happens, just as well. It's also possible that they believe that one or both may be continue to be coached up over the season. Of course it's also possible that they believe that having some knowledge of the calls and system automatically puts them one up on any other outside options, at least in a reserve/backup role.

Long story short--the coaching staff believes that it's better to have Kline and Devey on the roster this year, at least in this situation. That could change moving forward.
