    Patriots at Bills

    Rushing
    14 carries for 12 yards = 1.2 YPC

One week later Broncos at Bills

    16 carries for 75 yards = 4.7 YPC

Same team same running back same location. This nulifies your argument about the competition we faced and the caliber of the rushing attack. This win clinched a playoff berth for the Broncos.

To me the most important rushing statistic is yards on first and second down runs especially in the early part of the game. If theorectically the Broncos had a big lead the average may be skewed by Denver playing prevent for the last quarter. 17 rushes seems a bit paltry for a sucessful rushing attack.

    #24 Jersey

You can actually go down the list of what the running backs we faced did in the games before and after us. I would but I'm at work :)

The bottom line, sure we faced some struggling teams but every RB we faced did significantly worse against us than in games around us. Larry Johnson only averaged 3.8 against us which is actually pretty damn good. Then there's Cadillac who we stuffed.

Just for fun I'll do those two :

    Cadilliac against us : 14-23
    Johnson against us : 31-119

Combined those two averaged 3.2 YPC.

For the year those two averaged 4.7 YPC.

In the game before and after ours, Johnson averaged 5.3.
In the game before and after ours, Cadillac averaged 4.4.
Combined in the game before and after ours they averaged 4.86.

That's 3.2 vs. us compared to 4.7 for the year and 4.86 in the games surrounding ours. For two of the better RB in the league.

    And of special note . . .

The week after KC beat us with us holding LJ to 3.8 yards per carry, KC hosted Denver and LJ was 30-140, 4.6 YPC.

I love the way a lot of people dig through the stats to find this kind of information. It really is impressive. Especially if you consider that writers and reporters are rarely coming up with this kind of proof that the Pats have a better chance at winning this game than a lot of people think.

Great job. Thanks for the info.

Remember last year the Steelers on a winning streak 15-1 and got home field against the Pats? Then The Pats came in and shut them down!

Last year the Steelers got a better record than the Broncos this year, and i don't think any home crowds are as loud as them Steelers fans.
I got a feeling the Pats going to do the same thing with Broncos as they did it to the Steelers. If they can stomped "the Bus", then they probably would :bricks: "the Bell" (tatum bell) as well.

The crowds can save their terrible towers and wipe their a$$es :D

    Maybe. Then again:

-This year's Pats are not as good as last year's.
-Methinks Shanahan is slightly more creative than Cowher.
-Denver has a better passing attack than did Pitt.
-Denver's D (and this is most important) is really good, especially at home.

First off, 2 of those are based on opinion, and to say Denver's D is really good; Pitts has the best defense in the league last year, FACT. I'll give you denver has a better passing attack.

    1. They are arguably better especially at the LB posistion
    2. Shanahan is probably better at in game adjustments then Cowher
    3. True
    4. Pitt had the #1 defense in the league last year.

Ohmygod, you've exposed me! My statements were...yes, i confess *sob!*...OPINIONS!

You don't miss a trick, Sherlock. Bet you could find bodies in a morgue, too.

Yes, it's my opinion that this Pats team, while better than their 10-6 record indicates, are a far cry from last year's juggernaut. Yes, it's my opinion that Shanahan will come up with an excellent game plan, something harder for BB to handle than what Cowher produced. And it's my opinion that Pit's statistically rockin' D last year has absolutely no bearing on my opinion that Denver's D is VERY good, and will give the Pats fits this saturday. (Seriously, get ready to watch a lot of 3-and-outs on the NE side of the ball; it's the Broncs' D far more than the O that gives me a modicum of confidence headed into this game.) And thank you for sharing my opinion on the passing game.

Great research here! Makes me feel justified in trusting our run D as much as I do. Sure the Broncos are a better rushing team, but we are legitimately qualified to contain them.
