Ah, those quirky Brits. Always there to provide amusement for us in the colonies.

Sorry the Sat-Nav told me to drive up here: BMW left teetering on 100ft cliff edge | Mail Online

A shocked driver is today facing a careless driving charge after his sat-nav left his BMW teetering on the edge of a cliff.
Robert Jones said he trusted the gadget and continued to follow its instructions, even when it took him up a steep, narrow footpath.
He only realised something was wrong when his car hit a fence and came to a stop just inches from a 100ft drop.

It seems as if the problem is epidemic in the UK as Brit after credulous Brit cluelessly follows the Lords of GPS!

Only last week a driver drove 20 feet along the Doncaster to Hull railway line following an instruction from his device.

On another occasion 30 pensioners on a bus became wedged between grass banks on a sharp bend in Stroat, Gloucestershire

You'd think their innate sense of propriety would intervene. ;)

Embarrassing, truly embarrassing. It's really scary that he didn't think to question the Sat Nav until it was nearly too late.

I think it's hilarious and it highlights just how brain dead people are becoming. My gramps saw this last week, he's a trucker firmly from the old school and he hasn't stopped laughing since.

    Nice shiny beemer too :D

This is why we don't have, and never will have, flying cars.

Perhaps it's Scotish, Welsh and Irish immigrants making the Olde Englande folk look bad?

A couple of things first the guys a truck driver, he Should have enough experiance to know you don't drive a beamer with a 5'' ground clearance up a dirt path.
Second whats a truck driver doing Driving what looks to be an '08 BMW 3 series in the first place. When i was younger i tried driving tractor trailors for a living. i didn't make nearly enough money to buy a new car like that unless i was going to live in it.

Contrary to the image that I like to portray, I am half-Irish. I suspect I am part of the problem.

Not sure if that guy is one but some of these owner operators can earn good money, especially if they go overseas into Europe and have good contacts for work. I know a guy who has just got a whole new rig for himself, tractor unit and slider trailer.

After i posted that i remembered the owner operator gig. It was very good money $2500-3500 a week but i didn't want to deal with the headaches that went with the job. I don't have the patients for it. I was just starting out, when you first get a liscance your just looking to get experiance. I would say most wner operators have been driving for a while and have made contacts/connections in the field. They know exactly what has to be done, and where to go to pick up contracts. I didn't drive very long about a year, by that time the mystique had worn off. That will happen when your trying to "drop the trailor" at 4 in the morning and its raining cats and dogs in Nov. or Dec.

To keep a rig going there are certainly more headaches than it's worth sometimes but I guess if you love the job then you carry on. Sometimes they're spending more than they're earning on fuel and other running costs. The guys who are making a success of it are hardly home as a result, It's a tough posistion but as we know, money can be had.

I grew up on the things, winding down those landing legs, coupling up or securing loads at daft o'clock in unearthly conditions is when you find out if you like the job for sure.

Some places you deliver too over here are around villages, country side ect and some roads just aren't built for the trucks. To get her round corners you have to swing right out and the faces are a picture. The Locals come out and tell you off, "Those things aren't supposed to come down here". I can imagine getting lost in NYC, make a wrong turn down in London and your staying there:D

We went back to the top of the league today after winning and it's up to Manchester Utd to win tommorow, pressure is on. We haven't won nothing yet though and we need to keep fighting but yeah, it's been a good day.

From no other people in the world would you find a member of the public go up to a burning terrorist, punch him in the face and walk off.
